“Location, location, location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2009

Excellent location, a few steps from St. Pieter's cathedral and the Vatican. Nice restaurants around the corner, reachable by public transport (bus!), directly form the train station (Termini). Breakfast is outdoors and typical Italian (so don't expect too much). We had the room with a view on the St. Pieter's dome: unforgettable! Modern room (including fridge (!) and flat screen TV and DVD). Prepare to walk some stairs: the B&B is on the fourth floor and there is no elevator! Oke, the price is a bit high but we thought it worth while!

“Good value - Interesting location”

This B&B suited our needs perfectly - we're in our late 50's, in good shape and love to walk, so the many stairs to our room and non-central location were no problem. We don't need a lot of hotel services so the lack of full time staff and extras were also no problem. We saved a ton of money compared to the ourtrageously overpriced Rome hotels and spent the savings on more enjoyable/important things like tours and good restaurants. Being in a residential neighborhood and very close to the Vatican was enjoyable. We walked everywhere - Castel St. Angelo, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, and even the Spanish Steps. We thought the breakfast was excellent (nice job Anthony!) and it even included freshly cooked eggs - something we never saw again during our entire Italy trip. The room was clean, comfortable, good size, fairly modern, and had an ensuite bathroom (some had private bath, but across the hall). The only flaw we could find was the shower needed some maintenance - the shower head leaked and lacked pressure - but not a major problem. There were many good cafe's and restaurants within one block, and a big supermarket about 3 blocks away. If you're not in reasonably good shape, need lots of pampering and rely on hotel staff for much of your travel/tour information, this place probably isn't for you. Otherwise, it's a wonderful place. We highly recommend it. We will stay here again on future trips to Rome.

  • Liked — Large, modern, comfortable room with ensuite bathroom
  • Disliked — Unattractive external and internal entryways

“very pleasant stay”

I would like to say that the Bed & Breakfast via delle Fornaci in Rome was a very convenient location, just steps away from the Vatican, very clean rooms. There are 4 double guest rooms available. We were 3 couples that stayed here. The manager Silvia was very pleasant and helpful with information.
I found the property through the Rome Bed and Breakfast Association on the internet and can highly recommend this website for anyone looking for a B&B in Rome. Correspondence was immediate when emails sent, all questions answered.

  • Liked — the convenient location, taxi stand near by
  • Disliked — street noise, one gets used to it
  • Tips/Secrets — the big plus for this property is the location

“Not a good surprise!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2006

When we first arrived, I was very displeased to see that the bathroom was not attached to the bedrooms! It is FALSE advertising on the website! Yes you have a private bathroom, but it's a walk down the hallway to get to it. Not an easy task at night! They did not give us refills on shampoo, soap nor did we ever receive new towels within our 5 day stay.
When we arrived, the co-worker, Bon was complaining that he waited around for us all day because he didn't know what time we were coming! Can you believe that! Sorry we didn't think adhear to your schedule Bon! Silly me, I thought it was my vacation! The next morning after our sad little in-room breakfast, I asked Bon when attractions were open, days of the week, times, etc...He had no idea. I think if you are in the hotel business you should obviously know the answers to common questions tourist might ask.
The day of our departure, our breakfast was brought to us an hour early...geez, talk about feeling unwanted and rushed! Our train didn't leave until 4 in the afternoon. We were planning on leaving our luggage and finishing up our sightseeing. But to our surprise WE COULD NOT LEAVE OUR LUGGAGE FOR A FEW HOURS! They refused to let us leave it in the hall way, a storage room, anywhere! An absolute NO! I was shocked! What hotel doesn't let you leave your luggage! This really wasn't a hotel, more like a junk motel to rest your head at night!
One plus, it was clean. I guess that should count for something.
I would never recommend this hotel to anyone!
IF YOU LIKE BAD SERVICE AND UNCONSIDERATE PEOPLE, this is the place for you. (I would not even recommend it to my worst enemy)

  • Liked — Nothing - That we left
  • Disliked — The horrible nightmare service in every aspect.
  • Tips/Secrets — Don't Go Here!

“Just a Place to Crash”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2005

A reasonably-priced room to crash in, kind of like a private room in a hostel. But not a true B&B. This is essentially an apartment with three bedrooms rented out.

PROS: The location is excellent if you want/need to be close to St. Peters, and the place is very clean, and the rooms are tastefully decorated.

CONS:
Little privacy--keep in mind the family (the owner, her mother, and now presumably her child as she was pregnant in June 2004 when we visited) share the apartment too, along with potentially 6+ guests.
The kitchen is the entranceway to the apartment and to the guest rooms, and even though the family has its own wing, they have to go through this kitchen regularly. Also bear in mind that the apartment is on the 4th floor and there's no lift.

Also no private bath. It is advertised on the web site that all three rooms have a private bath. We stayed in the room with the black-and-white scribbly-patterned bedding (if you look at the web site photos you'll which one we mean) and our "private" bathroom was outside of our room, across the common kitchen.

We were also told (and there are signs on the property to this effect) not to sit or linger in the common kitchen area past 9 am. This wasn't the sort of place where you could pop back in the afternoon to change or lounge around for an hour in between activities. I always felt like I was intruding and had to tiptoe around.
