“Palacavicchi-Rome”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2010

The 3 stars Hotel Palacavicchi has good rooms , with double entrance, small garden, private bathroom and toilet, TV colour, telephone, minibar and air conditioning. All rooms are located at ground floor. The floor is made of two blocks, one for individual customers and the other one for groups, in order to assure a comfortable and pleasant stay to all guests.
The hotel is situated within short distance from Via Appia Nuova; the Roman Castles, the Archaeological Park of Via Appia Antica and the city centre are only 20 minutes away.
Easy reachable for the vicinity to most important way of communication like G.R.A. (Grande Raccordo Anulare = Rome ring), subway "Anagnina", railway station and Ciampino Airport, all connect by a shuttle service with charge.

Coming from Florence (A1) exit at Roma Nord. On arrival at Rome stay on the G.R.A. (Grande Raccordo Anulare = Rome ring) towards Ciampino and exit at 23 - Appia.
After the exit turn left direction Albano, go ahead for about 400 m and turn right in a small tunnel towards Ciampino Centro. After 400 m you will find our hotel on your right side with a panel indicating Alta Quota Residence.

“You Can Sleep Here, but That's About It”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2010

The hotel, or rather a motel type property, is close to Ciampino airport and they have a shuttle to get you there which costs 8 Euro per person. We took a train from central Rome and were told to call them on arrival for pick-up. And indeed, their shuttle soon arrived, and there was no charge for getting us TO the the hotel. However, once there, you need to pay 8 Euro to get anywhere, so we felt a somewhat trapped, especially since the property is isolated with nothing in the walking distance. It does an adequate job of an airport hotel, just make sure that once you get here you don't need/want to go anywhere else. There is a full service restaurant with mediocre food and service, but the wine they serve was the worst I ever had anywhere. The room was clean and inexpensively furnished, but had everything we needed. They start serving breakfast at 7, and if you need to leave early for your flight, there is no coffee service before then. There was Wi-Fi Internet which worked in some parts of the hotel, not in the rooms, but for us it was too expensive to be worth it.

“Its brilliant for proximity to the airport”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2009

we stayed here for 2 nights with our 10yr old we had been to Tuscany and wanted a couple of days in Rome. Its brilliant for the airport and shuttle bus thats it! The room was functional but the bathroom a disaster the shower sprayed everywhere and when we complained we were offered another room which at 10.30 at night having unpacked was totally impractical. We were told a plumber would arrive the next morning when we attempted to use it again that evenng it had not been fixed so we got the use of another room. On the first morning we arrived for bgreakfast at 9.30am to find the food practically finished we had a choice of bread tinned fruit cornflakes and cold coffee even though it was served till 10am. We were made to feel totally unwelcome as the staff were obviously finishing up.On the second morning we arrived at 9am to a very different experience with a proper breakfast!. Dinner in the resturant was very nice with good staff and service. The elderly gent who does the morning shift on the shuttle bus is a gentleman very pleasant and helpful. It takes a good 45 mins to get into Rome from here as you also have to take the metro and the station is not a place you want to be at night! The hotel receptionist was very abrupt and unhelpful.

“regular guest”

As it is a good location for stopping after a late arrival in Rome or the night before a morning flight, we stay here regularly. There are several good restaurants nearby if you know the district but otherwise, just eat in the hotel. The rooms are clean, basic and comfortable and the price is good.
We stay here often as our house is in Maratea but flights to Rome from Edinburgh are cheaper than Naples.
Will be back on our way back next week

“Very tricky to find, does the job adequately”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2008

Like others we had selected this hotel only for an early flight. Although it is so close to Exit 23 from the autostrada, even when you get the right road in to Ciampino, the hotel is invisible from the road. We only found it by pulling in to the Airport Parking Compound. Prewarned I had emailed the hotel to ask for an ungrade to the superior room and had a confirmation. On arrival the receptionist was curt and would not read the email. However she did acknowledge it later when I queried it and moved us to a better room, 110, upgraded and not too near the doors. The following morning, reception was very pleasant, we were also given a discount on the price quoted in the email. It looks like they have upgraded rooms 1-150. I would not stay at this motel type for any other reason than proximity to the airport for an early flight, but for this purpose it proved adequate. The restaurant was fine. The shower was a bit dodgy. For those looking for it, take exit 23, head straight away for Ciampino centro, tunnel, scruffy road pass derelict AGIP garage on left. Turn in to Airport Parking compound on right. Hotel is single storey to the right, well hidden! When heading to the airport you have to initially follow the Fiumincino sign! then aeroporti to drop again on to via appia. Easy once you know how!

  • Liked — Close to airport for an early flight
