“Great stay at the Midi Hotel”

This is a great little centrally located hotel. It is small, friendly and absolutely spotless clean. The rooms are all newly refurbished with air conditioning and a great power shower in the bathroom, comfy beds and minibar. I had a little balcony overlooking the patio terrace. As a single female spending 5 days in Rome I felt totally safe and at ease. It looks a bit dodgy from the outside but once you enter it is a real haven. It is about 10-15 mins walk from the Termini train station and centrally located for all the main sights. It's about 15 mins walk to the Colliseum and Forum. There are a couple of really great restaurants around the corner, with excellent delicious food and really cheap. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it if you are looking for a reasonably priced (cheap!), centrally located, and clean hotel in the centre of Rome. The added bonus is that from Rome FCO airport you pay €9.50 to Termini station and the hotel is just a short walk from it. I'd definitely stay there again.

“very clean”

We've just come back from staying at the midi hotel, outside you don't get a very good impression, as it looks a bit down town. Inside it looked very pleasant and nicely decorated, we was warmly greeted by the staff who showed us to our room, which was very clean, and new looking the bathroom was a good size. We found on our first day the air conditioning wasn't working, but was fixed the day after. The only problem with the hotel was that it was noisey, from trams and traffic, the breakfast was basic, and it took 10 minutes to make toast as the toaster only did one side at a time, and on leaving the hotel we got a bill for the bar that was in our room, which we didn't use. Apart from that the hotel was value for money and wasn't too far away from some sites and metro, and providing you don't mind the noise, it is a pleasant little hotel.

“The worst hotel I've ever stayed in”

STAY AWAY! FROM THIS PLACE !! As with the other reviewer of this hotel, we were also transferred to this hotel after booking a room at the Hotel Tempi di Pallade. This was the first inconvenience. When we arrived at the Hotel Midi, we had to wait for 45 minutes for them to get our room ready (mind you it was after the 1:00 check in time). Finally when our room was ready, we had to again walk outside about a block to get to our room. When we arrived we have to go down a flight of stairs - yes down to the basement - to our apartment like hotel room. I will try to paint you the picture of what we walked into but it will not do it justice to just how horrible it was. There were two mini friges - neither worked. A small tv, A tiny dirty bathroom with no shower just a wand hanging on the wall (we felt dirtier after showering in it) dirty paint chipped walls. A small kitchen with open containers of food in the cupboards (as if someone was living there) and the worst part was a random door in the corner which connects the the adjoining room. When we opened it we saw a two way mirror. When we looked through it (yes, you could see through it) we could see someone lying on their bed next door. A bit freaky if you ask me. The breakfast was horrible in comparison to all other places we stayed and the staff was downright rude to us. The neighborhood was frightening as night and downright slummy during the day. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone unless you have a death wish. STAY AWAY!!!

“Pleasant Surprise on the inside.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 March 2005

Originally booked at the neighboring Tempio di Pallade Hotel,, we were switched over to the MIDI Hotel,,, and what a pleasant surprise to this skeptical traveler. The outside left a lot to be desired in a neighborhood of graffiti and litter across from train tracks. But, the door way was secured with entry buzzer and TV monitors. And, on the inside it was simply beautiful.. The room was awesome in high-tech design and comfort. The bathroom was super with ultra-modern shower and “Bordeaux”???. TV with lots of channels including two English language. An in room safe and refrigerator. The bed was comfortable and CLEAN…. The only fault we could find was that on occasion a train arrival or departure could be not only heard,, but feel vibration as well. Not a problem, as tired as we were when we returned to hotel from day outings. And,, finally the breakfast was “Super”…. Cereal, juice x2, coffee, toast, sweet pastries, and a very friendly staff.
The last minute change of hotels was much to our advantage.. I was told that the next-door Center Hotel is under same ownership and good also.
