“PLEASE don't waste your money”

This hotel wasn't within walking distance of any of the tourist attractions. The staff was terrible and even yelled at us for coming in too late. No one was available to help us lug our bags upstairs in the rickety elevator. The breakfast was weak and we even walked in to find no seats because the waitress what sitting down eating. The rooms were clean enough but the mattress was as hard as a rock. Definitely one of my least favorite hotels ever!

“look elsewhere when staying in rome..”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2011

Stayed here for 4 nights and we were quite happy with the rooms but extremely disappointed with the service provided by this hotel..

The rooms are quite nice, quite spacious for rome, with a minibar which is very handy to put some food and drinks in, aircon, fairly new bathrooms (at times a bit smelly due to the sewer gas). But don't expect a room with a view coz the only view you will get is a brick wall!

The service though very disappointing.. most of the staff is quite rude and makes you feel like you are quite an inconvenience.

The worst experience we had was on the last day when we had to check out. There was the cleaning/breakfast lady at the check in desk and when it was time to pay I am not sure she had any idea of how to use to FPOS machine and just kept on swearing and punching in numbers and swiping our credit cards very impatiently on 3 different machines about 10 times and nothing was working.. she kept on blaming it on the "busy lines".
We got very frustrated as we were getting quite worried that our cards where getting charged every time they where swiped.. we asked if someone else that worked there could try and when finally someone else came he processed the payment and it worked on the first go.. obviously the lady was doing something wrong but would not admit it and kept on blaming the lines. I thought she was very unprofessional.

Breakfast is also a big disappointment, very basic with little or no food, stale bread and pastries, and the breakfast rooms is way to small first of all and people are left outside at reception waiting for a table to clear.

The hotels location is ok, theres a bakery at the front which can make fresh sandwiches and a nice little restaurant next door, but its also a bit of a walk from the main sites, definitely worth paying a bit more and staying somewhere more central.

Would not stay here again and personally would not recommend it.

“Decent Hotel for the Price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2011

If I had read all this reviews before I would not have stayed there. But the hotel is not so bad for it's price. It's old, but the main complain of other reviews of not finding the hotel is simple, if you write it down the address 15, Via Quintino Sella you arrive in a building which has indicated in the intercom Hotel Invictus. The staff is friendly, and it is quite well located. You are 20 minutes walking from Piazza de Spagna and other places and for the wine lovers the best Rome Wine Bar "i Colore del Vino" is steps away. Don't expect any luxury or anything else, but is simply a decent bed for you to sleep.

“Scam Hotel--Avoid!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2011

This is a shady hotel in an old building that is not marked from the street, hard to find, run-down and unprofessional. Our reservations were made months in advance through Expedia. After several attempts to locate the hotel (which no one who worked on the same block seemed to know about) we arrived there at 6pm to find that our rooms were not ready. Since there was no one else working at the hotel, the front desk attendant ran upstairs-literally- and cleaned and prepared the room, leaving us to cool our heals at the check in desk. While he was gone, someone (a guest??) came and rifled through the front desk looking for something--maybe his passport? He read through our passports and ruffled other papers on the desk until he found what he was looking for and returned to his room. Check in desk was labeled Hotel Invictus, but we had made reservations with Hotel Re. Hotel attendant was dressed in street clothes and it was difficult to tell if he was an employee. I had to ask him if he worked there. Elevator was a shabby wire cage and very small. Our room was on the 4th floor and only accessible through a door with avery large industrial-looking keyed lock which locked from OUTSIDE. I am not sure who had the key. Our room was prepaid and when we told the attendant that the hotel was unacceptable, he was happy for us to move to another hotel, but was not willing to refund our money. This hotel was supposed to be a 3-4 star hotel and was pricey at over $200 per night. False advertisement and a scam. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Tidy, central hotel with great staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 May 2011

Very enjoyable stay in this pleasant hotel. The staff were very friendly, fluent in English and very helpful. Breakfast was simple (croissants, breads, cereal, hard-boiled eggs, coffee/tea, juice) but completely sufficient to get one going.

Interior (courtyard) room was very quiet, as long as you don't mind having nothing to look at. Great restaurants in easy walking distance, coffee shop / grocery across the street, metro stop 5 minute walk and Termini Station 10 mins away without luggage - or 8-10 Euro by taxi.

The hotel is only marked by a small brass plaque at street level. Buzz the hotel at the street door or head inside if it's open, up to the second floor to find the reception. It also goes by the name "Hotel Re".
