“Great, friendly b&b with easy access to central Roma”

Alberone offers a great accommodation option away from the expense, hustle and bustle of central Roma but close enough for easy access - the train is only 5 minutes walk away down the street (and only a 5-10 minute train ride).
Run by a family in the adjoining apartment, there are only 2 rooms with a shared bathroom. When we booked we thought there was a private bathroom however the other occupant was rarely there so there wasn't a problem with the sharing arrangement.
Franco greets you when you arrive and is extremely friendly and accommodating - his english is quite good (as long as you speak slowly) - much better than my italian!
The room is a good size with a queen bed and a small table & 2 chairs. Everything is extremely clean and well decorated. The bathroom was also very nice. The room ahad airconditioning which was a big bonus given the summer heat. The apartment is in the Piazza Scipione which attracts many of the locals sitting out chatting and children playing until late evening - it is a great cultural experience. The area is quiet however, overnight.
There are a couple of great restaurants nearby that serve traditional / local Roman food. The one we loved the most was La Zingarella (The gypsy) just 2 doors down, which had a great antipasto buffet and home cooked pasta.
One point of note is that we chose the location because it mentioned free parking (as we had a car) but secure parking was available at a nearby garage for 50 euros for 3 days -this added to the cost. By aware of this if travelling with a car.
Having travelled to Rome previously this less central location was great as it was still really convenient access and we were able to get away from tourist areas and commune with the locals and eat local food.

“Such Nice owners!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2008

I stayed for only two nights but the accomodations were perfect for my purposes. I wanted to be relatively close and accessable to the major tourist sites but not spend the big bucks because of proximity. The Alberone Bed & Breakfast was only a 10 minute bus ride away from the Collessium and from there you can walk anywhere. I would def stay here again!

“Great B&B in Rome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2004

This is a great little B&B run by a man and his wife. It's difficult to find, but if you get off at Furio Camillo on metro A, walk down Appia Nuova, and take a left at Alberone square (it's not marked well...look for Alberone Cafe) and walk a few blocks down, you'll find it on the left across from another small square. It's not marked well...there's only a small label above the doorbell. The address is Piazza Scipione Ammirato, n. 17.

The place has a very good price (60euro for a double room & breakfast), and the owner is very friendly and helpful! The rooms are in their apartment on the 4th floor (there is a lift). Two rooms share a bathroom. The place is spotless & has loads of character. Enjoy!
