“Don't go there!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2007

We were in this hotel in February 2007.

Ok, just a few points about the hotel:

1) Location: the website stated that it is located close to the city centre and Vatican. Well, if you call a 45 minute trip by bus (because this is how long it takes to get to any attractions) a short distance, than they are right...

2) Staff: the staff consists of 1 person. He is always there - which is good. He does not speak any language apart from Italian. He is not helpful at all. The only person there who speaks English is the cleaning lady.

3) The room. Well... rather depressive and small, with uncomfortable double bed and terrible shower (which was stuck, so you had to stand in a lot of water).

4) Breakfast: hmm... a special Il-castelletto style with old toast bread, a very limited choice of additions, old butter and cold tea.

5) Bar / kitchen: we searched for it. We did not find it. All you can get is a soft drink or a beer coming out from a machine.

So... don't go to THAT hotel if you have a choice.

“A reasonable choice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2007

The grand disappointment about this hotel is the information provided in their site: It gives you a fake impression that the hotel is near to the city, and easy to find. In fact, the hotel is far away from city centre (40 min, metro+bus) and difficult to find.
If you want to find the hotel, use the information provided in the site only as a hint, nothing more.

The hotel is reasonable.
- Is located in a quiet neighborhood, and close to a market. Useful to buy food with cheap prices.
- The room is clean, not so comfortable, but safe for those who have valuables.
- The staff is average, i think. Not rude, but not so helpful.
- About the breakfast, i agree with other tripadvisor review: "...and a breakfast that is served in the cheapest way possible".

Stay in this hotel only if you don´t find something better.
But, if you want a quiet place, far away from city, this hotel is a good choice.

“Don't Bother”

The opening lines of "do yourself a favour and drive past the Hotel Il Castelletto" should give you some idea of my thoughts on the place.

The hotel looks very little like those photos shown on most websites, the rooms are way way overpriced for what is offered to guests, our room generally unclean, bedsheet like material used for so called towels, and a breakfast that is served in the cheapest way possible, stale bread and toast, cold hard boiled eggs cooked possible hours in advance (no other eggs available), some instant mixed drink for what I think was meant to be fruit juice, no bowls, spoons etc for cereal..... and so on.

To see the faces of guests sitting at breakfast looking at each other in amazement at what was supposed to be breakfast was unbelievable!

Extremely dissapointed!

“About Rome Hotel Reservation System”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2005

My husband and I have just returned from a wonderful time in Paris and Rome. Of the two, Rome was the best. We encountered only friendly, helpful people everywhere. As we tried to speak their language they smiled and were only to happy to assist us in whatever we needed.
Hotel Il Castelletto As I was reading about this place here and on RoomsAccomodation, Rome Hotel Reservation System ,I thought it just couldn't be as great as reviews said it was. I was skeptical but took a chance after reading about the owner offering to go to the hospital to help a guest. Fabiano helped me arrange things for my husband's birthday, including a clarification regarding our reservation for the Roman Forum tour. For me It is really a 5 star place...with TONS of Italian charm! We loved it and will return! In my opinion, the location and the rooms are superb but the charm, extra touches and the personal service puts The Best B&B way over the top!!
