We saw the photos on the website and they looked nice. So when we got to the hotel, we were very let down. The area that the hotel is located is very dirty, a lot of immigrants in this area, we did not feel very safe walking the streets at night. The hotel is located on the 5th floor and has a lot of steps but offers a very old small elevator. At first the desk clerk was not at the desk so we had to ask the cleaning lady to find him. He came to the desk and was not very friendly. He put us in a very small room with 2 double beds pushed together. The view was terrible, overlooking other people apartments and a business right out the window. We immediately asked for a bigger room since we would be staying for 6 nights. He told us the next day we could switch. So he put us in a bigger room. The room had a queen sized bed that was very hard with hard pillows, a bigger bathroom with a bathtub but no shower curtain. My European hair dryer wouldn't fit into the plugs so I had to use the 1960's hair dryer that was on the wall. We had a small tv with only 1 English speaking channel (CNN) which we already expected living in Europe for 4 years. The view from this room was a little better. It was overlooking a big park which we could see the bums sleeping in at night and where people were shooting fire crackers off randomly throughout the night. The walls are very, very thin. Each night I could hear the people in the rooms next to us talking and watching their televisions. I had a very hard time sleeping. I could hear people as they walked down the hall past our room talking and just walking! The pros to this hotel were that it is right by the metro. Very easy access. There was one great Italian Restaurant that the clerk directed us to right down the street.

We were on a budget for the one night we were stopping in Rome so I decided to stay here. When we walked up from the Metro steps, we immediately questioned our decision. We felt particularly unsafe when we buzzed to get in when we got back from dinner and there is a shady character lurking right behind us. We quickly scooted in the door and slammed the door behind us.

The lift is very tiny. There were only two of us with backpacks and it felt like we were testing the limits of space and weight.

The reception stuff wasn't very helpful and welcoming in the rooms were spacious. But we were still glad that we only had to stay there for one night.

Great location: 1 minute walk from: Metro, Supermarket, Resturants, Bank ATM, Cafe's, Clothes Shops, Internet Cafe.
--Room has: Air-con, reasonably priced mini-bar, TV, phone (with direct dialling), plenty of storage space, clean bathroom with a good shower. Rooms cleaned and linen changed daily.
--Friendly and helpful staff, and breakfast is enough to get you started for the day.
--The hotel has 2 good lifts, if one is not working, use the other one. As all rooms are on the 5th floor, there are good views from most rooms.
I would definately stay here again.

Just came back from a 2 week trip to italy and Hotel Orazia was our first stay. It suited our needs ( 2 couples traveling together) as we wanted a clean, safe hotel for under 150 euros per night .
It was easy to walk to the Colliseum and was also close to a train stop. We never felt unsafe in the surrounding neighborhood and would recommend this hotel to others seeking a moderately priced place to stay.
