“Unbeatable location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

The hotel Panda is a basic hotel but in a great location. I think our room was a triple as it had a small cotbed also in it, so it was not quite as small as I think it could have been if we had a normal double, and it had an en-suite and tiny balcony at the back looking on to other buildings. It also had a nice high ceiling with original beams and some slightly odd statues on a ledge above the bed but it made it a little quirky. We were only there for a day and a half so it was fine as a base for sleeping and spent our time out enjoying Rome. We went during high season so I was little worried about whether the air-conditioning would cope but it was fine (though a little noisy). The only negative thing was that in the bathroom there was a slight smell of sewage which I think probably is the drains and beyond the control of the hotel as it was 30C when we were there but it meant we had to remember to keep the door shut. Staff at the hotel were very nice and helpful and the room was clean, we arrived quite early, about 10:30am and were able to check-in early which was great. So it is a great base for sightseeing.
For the price (still seems a lot but it is not for Rome) the location is unbeatable.

Room Tip: Ask for one with a fresco ceiling, we did not get one but they look nicer.

“excellent location and value”

We stayed here 4 nights with our son & family in November. Excellent location.
Wonderful, helpful staff.
Will definitely book again, next time in Rome. well priced. only drawback is there are some stairs but we managed just fine.

Well priced. Loved the cappucino & croissant at nearby cafe in the morning.

Room Tip: we like view of courtyard; more quiet. but not essential for the time you are in your room.

“Good accommodations, great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

We stayed at Hotel Panda for four nights last May. We found the location to be fantastic and a great home base for exploring Rome. We walked everywhere and took the subway as well. The hotel is small with narrow hallways, and the rooms are clean and basic. We had a double room with ensuite bath and faced into the courtyard, which was very pleasant. We did not have any trouble with noise and found the bed to be comfortable. Our room was tiled with basic decor, but very pleasant. No TVs and the wifi was a little bit spotty but was free. For the price, you cannot beat this place!! It is not a luxury hotel but if you are looking for a clean, well kept place to stay at the Spanish Steps this is it. The staff was very helpful and arranged to have laundry done for us, which was very affordable, but did take some time as it has to be line dried. They told us this upfront so we had it done at the beginning of our stay and it was not a problem.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the courtyard are quieter!

“Simple, but great location and value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

I booked the Hotel Panda in Rome based on reference from the owners of our hotel in Florence. It was a great location--close to Spanish Steps and Via del Corso--so perfect. Really no character, but simple, basic, clean lodgings--which is what we were looking for. If you want elegant--this isn't your place. But if you want value and convenience, stay here.

“Hotel Panda - Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Hotel Panda is located in the heart of Rome minutes form the Spanish Steps.
If you like to walk you can visit all the major sites without ever using the Metro. Via Croce has very good restaurants and bars so it makes it a nice place to go back to after a long day of site seeing.

The only draw back is that the street gets very loud deliveries early in the morning so it can get a little loud. Other than that it's a great place to stay.
