“I will always stay at the same hotel in Rome!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2011

We were three families traveling in Rome and also nice cities in Tuscany, Umbria, Emilio-Romagna, Lombardy regions. Villa San Lorenzo was our base camp with reasonable price. It has good location for us ( we hired a Mercedes Vito for three family). Staffs were very polite and sincere. Almost every nights we drank our own vines and smoke cigars in the garden and we were given glasses, plates what ever we needs free of charge. Receptionists were very friendly and polite too. As a result, we liked hotel, staff, price (85 Euros for a family-three persons including breakfast) and all.

“Nice and clean hotel in suburbs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

This stylish 3 star hotel was very nice. The rooms are a little small but adequate. the bathroom was clean. It is in a quiet neighbourhood - not central nor walking distance to central Rome.
However there are bus and tram services close by that can take you all over and connections are good.We could get to the colleseum, vatican and a sunday market from the hotel.
Even late evening buses are available but need to check the times.
The breakfast was adequate and simple. There is a small lift to the upper floors but u can also walk up the steps.
There is a supermarket close by but not too many restaurants that are open till late.
I would recommend this hotel if u r watching your budget- resonable rates for Rome

“Fantastic stay”

This hotel booked through the travel company Bellaroma- fantastic service and not expensive
The hotel is situated in the university area south of the railway station . Don't be put off as the food around is high standard and not overpriced and the bars are buzzing. Lots of little artisan shops. It's easy to walk into the centre or take a tram
Great staff, beautiful room with balcony and full continental breakfast included. Room furnished in antique Italian style and this place definitely derserves a higher rating
Would recommend to anyone and would stay again

“A hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 June 2011

people found this review helpful

The Hotel Villa San Lorenzo is a hidden gem in a neighborhood that does not, at first appearance, look like a thriving area. Don't be fooled by the neighborhood - the buildings in the area are covered with graffiti, but remember graffiti is an art form that goes back to the days of the Roman Empire.
The first look at the hotel from its beautifully manicured front courtyard and parking lot is one of marvel - the foliage and trees in front are very tasteful and well kept, and the hotel has a perquisite that is not often seen in Rome - Free Parking!
The staff is friendly and helpful, the lobby area is sparkling with comfortable seating and marble everywhere. The breakfast room has marble floors, travertine wainscoting on the walls, and two beautiful crystal chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. The servers at breakfast are attentive, and the espresso and capoccino are excellent. The breakfast spread is typical of a Roman hotel - croissants, both plain and filled, cold cereals, cold meat and cheese slices, cereals, fruit juices, rolls, and so on. It is all fresh and very good.
The guest room we stayed in was clean and comfortable, with a king sized bed, desk, and armoir, two end tables, two armchairs, a telephone, and several electrical outlets for things like camera and cell phone chargers and razors. The bathroom had a lighted medicine cabinet, bidet, toilet, sink, and a shower. The shower stall was somewhat small, but as good as can be found for the cost of the room. They had a deal were if you stay five nights, the sixth night is free.
Wireless high speed internet is available for a nominal fee - 7 Euro for 48 hours.

Room Tip: Book early

“Pretty good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 June 2011

In the middle of a student area, with gritty urban surround sits this old villa: a haven of peace and elegance.
It's a simple hotel. Rooms look and feel historic: not everyone's taste, but rather lovely. Windows have old shutters & you awake to the sounds of Rome, open sutters and observe the patio with trees and birds and bright sunlight. It's all rather lovely.
Service matches the hotel: polite, courteous, even elegant: old worldly in the best way.
Location is odd: feels like hotel shoudl be with its cousins back in the Aventino: but if you need to be in this part of town, it's a gem.
