“The worst hotel I´ve ever visited.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

I generally do not care about hotel standards. I am just happy if I get something close to what I pay for. The staff are very friendly at hotel Galeno. That is the only good thing about the [--] The radiator in the rooms didnt work. They did not call anybody to fix it for three entire days. The "breakfast" is a piece of bread and a machine-coffee that might actually be the worst coffee I´ve ever had. Ever. The room was exceptionally small and smelled of gutter. That was all OK. The real problem is that EVERY sound can be heard in the neighboring appartments. Every cough. Every whisper. Every sound.

Stay at hotel Galeno and experience a few days of how it feels to live inside a nightmare.

“Make sure you get a receipt - and keep it!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

I agree with most comments, small room, basic breakfast, inadequate bathroom - but the price was cheap for such a central location. Our complaint was that my partner paid on arrival by credit card. On leaving two days later he was asked to pay again! He phoned his bank who assured him the payment had been processed for the correct amount. The receptionist would not accept this and became very aggressive, saying we could not leave until we paid. He kept saying "show me your receipt" - which we had not been given. Things got very confrontational and it took nearly an hour before he accepted that we had indeed paid. Presumably this was because of a very poor Admin system.

“Don't go there!!!”

I found a dark hair under my pillow, the sheets weren't changed!!! I couldn't believe my eyes! Yes, the price is really good but next time I would prefer a more expensive hotel just so I know it's clean.

“Not recomanded - hotel staff stole our money”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2011
2

For the money i paid, the hotel was reasonable, but the hote staff (probably the maid) stole 100 euro from the room, during breakfast.
The real problem was not necessary the stolen money, but the staff and manager attitude. They said something like "We don't care, our personal don't steal, so call the police or this is it"... WTF !!

And the second problem: they don't have free Wi-Fi to work in the entire hotel including the rooms. The Wi-Fi work only at the front desk so this is bad..

Breakfast is only a piece of brad whit butter and coffee.

“value priced...lovely staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

We stayed at the Hotel Galeno as part of a package trip we purchased for Italy. We were concerned about this hotel to say the least! All things considered I probably would not stay here again due to its distance from the metro station. (A good 10 minute walk.) After walking around Rome all day, the last thing you want is a 10 minute hike to your room. The room had NONE of the creature comforts you would expect in the US. No phone, no alarm clock, a tv that did not work (with no remote). The two rooms we had were literally right off the breakfast room, so forget about EVER sleeping in here. (Not that we wanted to.) The shower stalls are so tiny I could not even bend over to shave my legs! I looked up at the bathroom ceiling one morning to find mold ALL over it. ughh!! Everything else seemed clean. The rooms were tiny. Barely enough room to drop a suitcase or two. We would NEVER have stayed at this hotel if it were stateside, but When in Rome.....

The Staff here was so kind. All spoke English, had a helpful tip to offer, teased my children and made us endless cappuccinos with a smile on their faces.

For the price, we didn't expect much so we were not disappointed. I would be hesitant to stay here again though as it is a good distance from the metro and outside the tourist area.
