“Good value”

It is true that Sei a Roma is not close to the center but it is a great value. It is a great place to reserve if you have your own car because with the public transport you better be patient. Fortunately we had our own car and in 15 mn to 45 mn (depending of time of the day) we were in the center of Roma.
Rooms are new and very clean, the staff is very kind. The only bad part is the breakfast but is there anything better that a cappucino and croissant in the center of Roma...

“Not suitable for a Rome Vacation”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 June 2008

Rome was our last stop for the Italy tour and we were unable to get any hotel with good rating and affordable price. The reviews for Sei a Roma were very good and the location mentioned that it is close to a metro station and we booked it through Booking.com. We were in for a rude shock....once we booked the B&B sent us the directions and it meant about one hour journey from termini either by changing metros or by metro, bus and tram. Cancellation, even 15 days prior, meant losing 1 day's charge so we stuck on. Being in the remote outskirts the metro stations do not have escalators and we had to climb staircases with luggage. The B&B also does not have lift and you need to go up the stairs with luggage. The rooms are ok and clean but the breakfast is minimal. One packed croissant, tea/coffee,juice and cereal. No butter is provided and I had to buy a separate hot chocolate powder for my kid. Will not recommend for people who are going to Rome for a sightseeing trip - you will spend 2 hours in commuting each day !!

  • Liked — Clean rooms
  • Disliked — Location and breakfast. Also unlike other booking.com hotels, they charge on cancellation.

“Too Far From Town Centre”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2008

We stayed at this B&B for two nights. It was our last stop in Italy, and I should have done MORE research before we made arrangements. They are doing major road work around the B&B, and it's not in the best part of town. They lady was really nice, but my biggest argument about this B&B is that you have to walk from the B&B for about 3-5 minutes to get to the train stop, which takes you into Rome. (20 minute ride which ends at Flamino.) We loved Rome, got alot of "exercise" in. You walk to the train station, you ride the train, you walk all over Rome, and then do it all over again on the way home....makes for a rough evening when you're tired, or have to go to the bathroom. The best thing about this B&B is it's located next to my Favorite restaurant in Rome, called Mama's. The lady helping us with our room, spoke English proficiently, and was the most help we had with directions, maps, and suggestions for dining etc. If you don't mind being almost outside of the City Circle, and budgeting for extra train rides, time schedules etc. than this B&B is acceptable. It was the ONLY place we found a real double bed. lol

  • Liked — The one restaurant near it.
  • Disliked — Too far from town, too hard to find, too many stairs.

“Bring an IPod if you stay here- you will need it!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 April 2007

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights over the Easter period and paid about £60 a night, which given the time of year was very reasonable.

The accomodation itself was nice (we had a private bathroom, which I would definately recomend paying for), it was a decent size, good decor, nice bathroom and was cleaned and made up every day.

Breakfast is simple- cornflakes, coffee, OJ, and a pastry- but that is all we would normally eat anyway and to us, it was better than wasting time in the morning finding a cafe when we could be sight seeing or shopping! Also, it is in a private kitchen area, no one watching over you etc so that was really good too.

In terms of location from the centre, you've got to catch the Metro and travel 8 stops, but it is all on the same metro pass so you do not have to pay extra to get here. This takes 15-20 minutes.

You also have to walk along what is a bit like a half finished motorway slip road, although it was not quite as busy as one. In my opinion, a single female traveller would find this experenience pretty daunting, or if you had a very young family- not particularly pushchair friendly.

The accomodation did definately have a major downside. Namely, there are no carpets and the walls are paper thin, hence it is EXTREMELY NOISY. Also, i think people may live there in the flats- the people above us were very loud, pretty selfish italians who shouted when they talked and had the TV up exceptionally loud until the small hours. There are also various generator sounds going on throughout the night. If you stay here, make sure you bring an ipod or something or you will never get to sleep.

Oh yes, and when we left at 6am to catch an early flight we were locked in the main gate, so we had to scale an 8 foot fence, with suit cases!

Generally though, it was an OK place to stay. It is cheap compared to the rest of the City's hotels, it has conveneient breakfast and is clean. Provided you have an MP3 player, it is generally an OK place to stay!

  • Liked — It was clean and made up every day
  • Disliked — The noise
