Just got back from Rome a couple of weeks ago. Spent three days at the Windrose and considering that is a property that is very centrally located in an older neighborhood, it was pretty nice. Granted, the rooms are small, but hey, this is an older building. There is a great restaurant right across the street, and internet cafe and electronics shop right around the corner. There is a great local market to the left as you go out the front door. Service was good and did not run into the sureliness mentioned in other comments. We were delivered to the front door by the airport shuttle for only $10 more than it would have cost for the train. After they dropped off people at other hotels located on busy streets, this place was a pleasant surprise. Nice and quiet considering that it was that close to the main train station and the Metro Hub. Our only issue was the size of the shower, but I have seen them small like this one in other parts of Europe in older buildings. The person complaining about the breakfast is not familiar with a normal continental breakfast and yes, right across the street is a couple of dumpsters (hey in downtown Rome, where do you think that businesses put their trash). The convenience, quiet street, the close restaurants, and the location close to the train station made it a great choice.
