“STAY AWAY FROM VESTA RESIDENCE PLEASE.....”

I had a horrible experience. I had booked a Bed and Breakfast hotel...Vesta Residency after reading about the the GTA and Vesta. The booking was made for two nights from 06 dec 2009. I got a confirmation through email. When i reached the Hotel with my wife and baby at 8:15 PM, I found the hotel locked. I waited outside the Hotel Door, for almost an hour, when the supposedly bilingual receptionist came to open the door. She just could not speak English. Further to my shock, she made me speak to someone on the phone who could speak in English and that person told me that they do not have a room to provide you, thus please take 50 Euro and go to some Hotel Salus which is near termini, they will accommodate you for a night and you can fall back tomorrow, since a room is available tomorrow. when I asked him to please make me speak to the GTA/other people, I was told no one is there at that time and next two days are holidays in Italy. When I asked them to please cancel my booking completely i was refused to do that by Vesta people, saying that they have a room available for 07 dec 2009 thus they cannot cancel the reservation and If i have any problem i can mail to GTA on reaching back home after the visit. This discussion for making a room available for me lasted 3 hours, since VESTA people could not find a room in Hotel Salus also, thus they told me to go to Hotel Opera. Sadly at 11:30 PM in the night with no option with me I had to shift on my own expenses to another Hotel (Hotel opera, Bed and breakfast, next to termini). I had to pay for the second night at Hotel opera. GTA people had already taken away the money for 2 days of stay.
My advise to anyone reading this...Please stay away from vesta...

“This is the biggest s*ht hole ever!!!”

My partner and I have stayed in well over 100 hotels/backpackers/b & b's throughout Europe and this was by far the worst of the worst ever. Firstly, the hostel was hard to find and we didn't know how to get in the front door. When we finally found the place the lady answered the door while talking on her cellphone. She didn't speak English. Pointed to the toliets and gave us a key before leaving. We had no idea where she lived or where we could contact staff. There is no reception. Worst of all, our room was above the noisiest sounding highway in Europe which even ear pugs couldn't drown out therefore NO SLEEP. When we asked to change rooms, the rude arrogant b*tch just strugged her shoulders and let us know that it wasn't her problem. We asked for the next nights money back and told her we were going to leave but she again said no. After our pathetic breakfast of one tiny crossiant, a tiny juice and coffee we left and cut our losses. DO NOT STAY IN THIS PLACE!!!!!!

“Not what we were expecting....”

Our flight got to rome on time. We got the train from the airport to rome town centre. We got out on the wrong train stop. Walked for 1 hour before we could find a taxi, then once we got to the right place, we thought at last. As we got inside we changed our minds straight away. During the first night people kept trying to open our bedroom door. We had to share a bathroom with several other bedrooms. People would wake up early and make alot of noise so a layin was out of the question. The lack of english didn't help. The only good thing was that the room was not far from the underground. Even though on the last day of holiday there was a strike on public transports and so no trains, buses where working. We had to walk 1 hour to the main train station that was the only that was still working. We could have taken a taxi, but if we had to walk it would be quicker because of the traffic. And the prices they were charging was out of this world. So please do think carefully before booking at this vesta residence...

“Great Deal! But don't expect the Hilton”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2008

Me and my girlfriend stayed here for two nights. We paid 15€ per person per night through easytobook.com and I am writing this review with this great price in mind, which is cheaper than many hostels! One of the higher rated B&B here in the same location would have charged 40€, more than twice as much.

You have to know that it is upstairs inside a brown apartment building. We had no trouble finding it and no problems at all! Staff only spoke italian, but what is there to explain anyways? They were friendly and provided out with a map. The room was clean, even had a tv, the shared bathroom was a bit old and rusty and the shower door was broken but it was fine. The shower itself worked great!

We enjoyed the privacy of our own room (compared to a dorm in a hostel mind you), it was quiet and they cleaned our room and provided us with clean towels, again something you probably don't get at many places for the price.

The location of the hotel is great. There is a supermarket and a mcdonalds in the neighboring subway station so you can provide yourself with cheap food there for breakfast and for the day. And it is just a 5 minute ride to the central station. It's really good when after a long day of walking around rome, you don't have to walk so much to your hotel.

In summary, if you are on a budget, just want to explore the city but don't want to sleep in a room with strangers, I can absolutely recommend this place. It provides everything you need for a fun trip to rome but nothing extra. Don't expect a 2 star hotel as it is advertised on some websites.
