“Not what we were expecting....”

Our flight got to rome on time. We got the train from the airport to rome town centre. We got out on the wrong train stop. Walked for 1 hour before we could find a taxi, then once we got to the right place, we thought at last. As we got inside we changed our minds straight away. During the first night people kept trying to open our bedroom door. We had to share a bathroom with several other bedrooms. People would wake up early and make alot of noise so a layin was out of the question. The lack of english didn't help. The only good thing was that the room was not far from the underground. Even though on the last day of holiday there was a strike on public transports and so no trains, buses where working. We had to walk 1 hour to the main train station that was the only that was still working. We could have taken a taxi, but if we had to walk it would be quicker because of the traffic. And the prices they were charging was out of this world. So please do think carefully before booking at this vesta residence...

“Great Deal! But don't expect the Hilton”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2008

Me and my girlfriend stayed here for two nights. We paid 15€ per person per night through easytobook.com and I am writing this review with this great price in mind, which is cheaper than many hostels! One of the higher rated B&B here in the same location would have charged 40€, more than twice as much.

You have to know that it is upstairs inside a brown apartment building. We had no trouble finding it and no problems at all! Staff only spoke italian, but what is there to explain anyways? They were friendly and provided out with a map. The room was clean, even had a tv, the shared bathroom was a bit old and rusty and the shower door was broken but it was fine. The shower itself worked great!

We enjoyed the privacy of our own room (compared to a dorm in a hostel mind you), it was quiet and they cleaned our room and provided us with clean towels, again something you probably don't get at many places for the price.

The location of the hotel is great. There is a supermarket and a mcdonalds in the neighboring subway station so you can provide yourself with cheap food there for breakfast and for the day. And it is just a 5 minute ride to the central station. It's really good when after a long day of walking around rome, you don't have to walk so much to your hotel.

In summary, if you are on a budget, just want to explore the city but don't want to sleep in a room with strangers, I can absolutely recommend this place. It provides everything you need for a fun trip to rome but nothing extra. Don't expect a 2 star hotel as it is advertised on some websites.

“Terrible - Don't Stay There!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2008

We stayed at this place in June 2008 and we had alot of problems. Firstly when we arrived at Tiburtina station at night, and tried to find the hotel, it was extremely difficult to locate. The area was very seedy and dangerous. There is no sign on the door to find the place and it was hidden in amongst an apartment block. When we finally found it, we went to reception who couldn't speak english nor french, only italian and they first told us that they didnt have a room for us even though we booked. They finally found one but it was an ensuite room which we didnt request. They didnt charge us the extra for that night, but we decided to upgrade anyway as the shared bathrooms were disgusting. They demanded the money straight away.
We had to change rooms 2 times because of problems. The first room had a toilet leak and blockage. We woke to find the water all over out hotel room floor. The sheets werent clean, they had blood and other dirt on them. We told them and they changed the room. The second room, i layed on the bed and fell thru it. So then we had to change rooms again.
The location was ok but there is no metro late at night so we had to catch a cab. I dont recommend this room to anyone. Its not worth the money you pay and it is too much hassle. They never fix the broken beds or the plumbing so i can guarantee that when if you go, you will have the same problems. If you want a stress free holiday... DONT STAY HERE!!

“I do not recommend it”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 May 2008

The location is terrible, not safe and away from the centre. The only way to get to the centre is by bus and until it arrives and takes you there you need at least 1 hour. The same applies on the way back.
The first night the outside door didn't work and there was no answer when we rang Vesta's bell. Finally an angry residence of the building opened the door for us. We were really scared because it's a creepy neighbourhood. Then the Vesta Residence key wouldn't open the door.
I;d rather have paid a bit more for a hostel near the centre.
