“Peaceful location in busy Rome!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2010

I spent four nights here and was very satisfied. While my room was small, I knew this when I booked, not a problem. There was good storage apart from what I have noticed many times in budget accommodation: nowhere to hang a towel after use! There was a good reading light. Shared bathroom was in good order and kept clean. Breakfast was good and available early. If one is comfortable using a gas cooker one could make hot drinks etc in the kitchen at other times. Location is convenient - easy journey by trains from the airport, and a 15 minute walk to the Metro. There are also several bus routes nearby. As location is largely residential and not inner city it is quiet. I saw several local bars and restaurants, also newsagent etc. Seems popular with young Americans!!

“We felt like home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2009

Where do I start?
We stayed at Mrs/Ms Ricci's bed and breakfast LeTerrazze in Rome near the Vatican (10min walk) from Oct 3 - 8, then ventured to the Amalfi coast, Florence and Tuscany and decided to extend our stay and go back to LeTerrazze B&B in Rome for another week.
While LeTerrazze is a very simple apartment-type of Bed&Breakfast, we absolutely loved it. My husband and travel quite a bit and appreciate the kindness, warmth and simple, but good service we received at the Bed&Breakfast. Chandy who prepared our breakfast and took care of the room is absolutely a doll, we loved her very much and even decided to share dinner with her one night. Ms Ricci comes in off and on to check and make sure everything is as expected.

The place itself is fairly small, but is VERY clean and cozy. While not comparable to an executive suite at the Marriott, the location (10-15 min walk from the Vatican), 10 min from the metro station, 10 min from the grocery store, and the cleanliness of the room, simple but huge breakfast received, and the value(cost) of the room made the whole difference. In addition, when you are in Rome, you spend very little time in your Rome as you are exploring the city all day. My husband and I requested the room with a huge terrace and had candlelight dinner out on the patio** there every night after getting few things at the grocery store. She lets you use the kitchen which many B&B don't. We also had breakfast in our room every morning which consisted of simple cereals, different kind of bread, pastries, yogurt, cheese and so forth. It is very simple, but the price is so right and in comparison to other B&B, this location is much quieter. Anywhere you will be in Rome is very, very noisy as the city is always busy, so bring ear plugs, it makes the whole difference. In addition, there are other rooms, so people will come in and go, but since Chandy lives there, she ensures that everyone is respectful of one another.

We stayed at 4 different B&B while in Italy and B&B Le Terrazze was by far our favorite. Don't be a stranger, get acquainted with Chandy and Ms Ricci, they are truly loving people. You will have the time of your life is you open up and make it that way.

Stay there and keep an open mind. Traveling in Europe is a lot different than traveling in the US and you won't get better price & value anywhere else, I researched all B&B for months before going. Ask for the room with a private terrace and if not available, there is another terrace that goes all around the building. it is great view!

“lovely place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2008

We stayed for a weekend there and we all felt very welcomed. The room I stayed in is huge and has a real piano next to the bed. From the room we had direct access to the terrace. The lady that met us (Mrs Chanti) was very nice and always in a good mood. Breakfast is included and it's plenty. You have to walk for about 5 min to the metro station and if you can read a map, it's kinda easy to reach every tourist attraction. We made an abbonamento for 72 hours valid for every metro line, and it only costed 11 euros. As a minus I would mention the 30's elevator that doesn't always work. Overall - I totally recommend it and if I go back to Rome, I would love to check in this b&b .

  • Liked — clean and large rooms with terrace
  • Disliked — the elevator

“Avoid!”

Where to start....! Description was totally misleading!! B&B is NOT close to anything! Approx. 15-20 min. by bus to downtown Rome (Trevi, Navonne, Spanish Steps, etc.) and not, by any stretch of the imagination, is it 5-10 min. walk or bus to Vatican as we were told! Metro is 10 min. walk. There is ONE restaurant nearby and 2 pizza places. Restaurant was our only saving grace, excellent (Caselli, I think). Neighborhood leaves much to be desired. My husband was nervous about walking the streets after dark so we were sure to be in our room by 9:00 PM. NO PHONE! Although we were told we could use the one in the mgr.'s room, it was far from convenient. Also, there are not 3 rooms! In fact, there were 4-5 (I think 5) with 2 baths to share. I was told, prior to booking, that were were 3 rooms and 2 baths. First night, no hot water but property mgr. told us someone turned it off. Funny how it went off as my son was taking his shower and never returned until the following morning necessitating 3 of us taking cold showers. Next night, no towels and no property mgr.! We were not informed that towels were changed every 3 days so we left them outside our room to be changed. Called owner at 10:00 PM and she contacted mgr. so we could have towels. Breakfast was self-serve but abundant (instant coffee) with sliced bread, croissants, tarts. juice boxes and yogurt. Drawback to this is that the table only fits 4 people! This means that you cannot eat breakfast until the prior group is done thereby preventing you from starting your day as you choose. Rooms were cleaned intermittently (every few days possibly). I agree that if the owner invested some money, it could be very nice. The old building iteself is beautiful with a 30s/40s-type elevator (lift). However, this would not change the neighborhood nor the commute. By the way, the trip from Termini (Rail station) to B&B was $70 E (charged per person and per piece of luggage) so it is definitely not easy to get to. I did check with several taxi drivers and was quoted similar rates.
