“Not as bad as suggested.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2011

My boyfriend and his brother had been backpacking, so me and the other girlfriend flew out and met them in split, then onto Rome. Staying at the Hostel itself was Ideal, around the corner from the termini, 10 mins walk from the Colosseum. perfect location. After reading reviews I was a little put off, however It was cheap and one of the only ones left. There was only 3 rooms in total. Ours had 2 singles pushed together and 1 bunk bed. Although this isn't a good thing it did entertain us somewhat.. when one of the boys jumped on the top bunk, it rattled like he was going to fall through, we all held our breath. then laughed. Next, the other sits on one of the doubles and he falls straight through! We were crying with laughter! turns out the bed only had 4 bed boards and there was nothing but the mattress. The second night, I saw what the others believed a small cockroach. it was only 1, The place was clean and tidy. But because I'm a girl with bugs I didn't sleep a wink that night. other then that the people where lovely!

“Won't be back, don't waste your time”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2011

In our month long Europe trip, this was the worst hostel we stayed at. The room we stayed in had mold in the washroom, the shower bottom leaked and got all out bags wet because it leaked through the wall! The room was tiny (which we were used to by that point, and had beds which turned into bunk beds (but we questioned the stability of the raised old flimsy bed). There was also no way to get up on the bed as there was no ladder as most bunk beds normally have.

The guy at the front desk, although friendly, didn't know what he was doing. He couldn't find our room and we had to go up and down many flights of stairs finding it because the elevator wasn't working. He also made us pay the deposit that we already paid through Hostelworld because he thought that we didn't pay a deposit, it was only leaving our card number to reserve the booking. Upon checking my credit card bill, sure enough, there was a charge, and neither Hostelworld or Pink Floyd would do anything to rectify this.

Would not go back here, would not recommend it to anyone. Find another place when you're in Rome.

“Roughin it with the Floyd!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2009

If you want a cheap, basic, no frills hostel then this is it. There is no socializing with other guests like other hostels as there are no communal areas and hanging around in the BEAUTIFUL courtyard is strongly discouraged. But it is a great location for the train station and some sights, breakfast included in your price (again it is basic but does the job) and if you just want a bed (solid as it may be) to crash in after an exhausting day sight seeing it does the job well!! Just don't expect allot from your room.

“Not Too Shabby”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2008

For young adults traveling we had a blast. We easily made friends with the other people in the hostel. There was a small kitchen area if you wanted to do some cooking. There were five of us so the room was a little small but we had our own private bathroom. The owner was extremely nice and we didn't really have any trouble finding it. There were five of us so we easily found the hotel hollywood where you check in. For a hostel i felt it was safe and clean for the price we paid.

It is however a good walking distance from all of the major rome sites but the train station is right there so you can pick up the subway at a very low riding fee. Also the elevator ride was kind of scary i recommend using the stairs

“Ugh”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2007

I'll make this short and sweet. This place pretty much ruined my very short trip to Rome. We had two days to see everything, and when we showed up to check in, there was no sign, not even a buzzer to indicate that we were in the right place. We had to ask an old guy standing on the street if we were in the right place. We followed him down the street and after a few minutes of yelling at someone who stuck their head out the window, someone showed up to show us to our room. We followed him back to where we were, and he proceeded to kick a group of about 5 angry people out of our room while we stood there. We waited while they argued for a while, but eventually decided that if we were going to see any sites, we needed to leave, so we carried our bags all over the city. When we came back the room was at least clean, but I feared for my safety. I've showered in some weird places, but this one takes the cake. I felt like someone was watching me the whole time, and when I left, I still wasn't sure the place was legit. I've been to Rome since then, and you can find some fine hostels. Definitely avoid this one.
