The Hotel Fenix provided us a lovely, but small room with a very comfortable bed for our visit to Rome last week. I agree with some of the other posts here that the breakfast buffet was pretty ordinary and the staff did seem jaded...a perfect word to describe them. They just weren't very warm and welcoming. When asked to recommend nearby restaurants, the gentleman behind the desk only suggested the one in the hotel. We did eat dinner there because we were too exhausted from sightseeing and the pastas we tried were excellent. However the service was awful! We did not mind the location of the hotel because it was in a lovely area near a main artery into the city. There are many restaurants that you can walk to nearby. And it was a bit of a respite from the hectic pace of the center of Rome. There is a fairly nice courtyard area for sitting outside and reading.
