“Nightmare”

The hostel is terrible to get to - don't think you can experience the Rome night life. The trains stop just after 10 and it would take hours to get from Rome back to the village. Then you need to take a dangerous 15min walk in the dark from the train station to get back. During the day there is a shuttle service, but time tables are not kept and we waited hours for the bus to leave/arrive.

The bathrooms were not cleaned every day and most of the doors in disrepair.

To make our experience even worse, there was a Polish group who completely ignored all the rules, played music and make a heck of a noise until 4am every morning. After hectic clashes and vicious fights we had lock ourselves in our cabin for fear of being attacked further by the drunk men. The grounds keeper had no authority and the manager was dead and buried. We were disgusted and exhausted when we left and would not recommend anyone else very make use of these facilities.

The camping have a bus service. The bus will take you to the nearest metro station, 5 minutes from the village. The center of Rome is just 20 minutes. Walking is certainly a complicated path. CUSTOMERS ARE YOUNG. THEY WANT TO HAVE FUN THEN MAKE SOME NOISE. They never cause big problems!
THANKS

“Resistance is futile!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2009

Cheapest way to stay in/near Roma, but you turn over some control of your life to the campground management for the duration of your stay there. For instance: (a) must use their pre-paid debit cards rather than Euros for all on-site purchases; (b) campground is located 2km down a rural road so the shuttle meets trains at La Giustiana station with 30 minute service from 8am to 8pm (shuttle costs E0.50 each way, trains cost E1.90 into Roma each way); (c) swimming in the pool costs EXTRA. Other than the "control issues", this place works quite well, most staff are friendly, expensive internet access is available, but grocery/beer prices are reasonable.

This was where I stayed for a few nights during my Contiki Tour and again through Busabout as it was a registered drop off point. If it werent for the fact that both companies stopped there with no other hotels in the area I would not have stayed for the first night, let alone the second night.

The bathroom facilities were disgusting. The entire toilets were constructed using stainless steel and reminded me of a dirty army barracks, all the water from the showers ran down through all the other showers to a main drain. The showers also had no private area where you could store your clothes, so your clothes had to be draped over the top of the shower doors, resulting in them getting wet. The sinks were in a semi-outside area. The toilets were a short walk away from the Contiki cabin area, however if you stayed in the regular cabins (the same ones were used for Busabout) the walk was probably a good 5-10 minutes away.

We had to be warned during both tours that our possessions were not safe in our rooms unless all doors and windows were locked tight, and were warned against gypsies that supposedly wandered the campsite during the night.

The campsite was a good 45 minute walk through what looked like countryside from the station, we attempted it one day however other days we timed our arrivals back to the train station to coincide with the shuttle service, which only ran hourly a few times in the morning and a few times in the evening, with nothing in between. Put this together with the fact that taxi drivers in Rome had no idea where to take us even after showing them the address, they had no idea where they were going forcing us to direct them.

But by far the worst thing from our stay had to be the giant hill in the campsite. Its an extremely steep hill of uneven steps up to the bar, shop and reception that really made you question your need to go up there. My travelling companion tripped up the steps one night requiring a visit to the hospital and 10 stitches to his forehead - not something you wish to happen during a holiday!!

But I'll end on the few positives that there are -- the campsite bar is a winner, the drinks were cheap and it made for a good night (Except to visit the toilet during the night required you to attempt the dangerous steps) and there was a decent sized pool that looked clean and was extremely refreshing during the hot Italian summer.

But definitely avoid this place, unless you are on a Contiki tour and have no other option. If that's the case, be warned!

I stayed her as part of my contiki tour, and from the whole tour London to Athens this was by far the worst.

The location is appauling, there is nothing near by, and its quite a journey into central rome.

You are not allowed to spend Euros at all in the camp, you have to buy a card when you arrive with a certain amount of credit on. This covers the phones, the shop, the bar, the laundry etc. This became very annoying as many of us were left with credits but no time to spend them.

The shop is average enough, but the cafe seemed quite expensive and uninviting. There is a few computers with internet access but they were only open at certain times of the day.

We do have some fun with the cheap alcohol and the seating area but our group could have created fun anywhere.

There is a nightclub but it seemed to big for the amount of people staying there, we all just rattled around a bit. The staff in their were very very rude.

The huts we stayed in were very basic, but we expected this.

Another very big down side is the steep slopping hill - The shops/Showers/Toliets are on the top - Your bed is at the bottom. Once or twice a day was enough but in the pitch black will desperate for the toliet, it really wasnt very amusing.

The toliets were very unclean also.

All such a shame to say i love Rome and i love Italy.

“Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter Here”

We stayed at this campsite during our tour around Europe, and let me tell you, we were glad to leave. It is 40 minutes away from the nearest train station, and you have to rely on a shuttle bus, but it doesnt tell you on their website that the bus stops running in the afternoon-the directions stop at the train station. The staff are worse than useless-while we were there we were intimidated and subjected to verbal abuse and the staff were not interested. The security on site were asleep when we called them. The toilets and showers are filthy; I saw a staff member clean them by hosing them out and leaving the dirty water in a puddle in the middle of the floor. Beware the Tour Reps, we discovered that they are just as ignorant as some of the staff. Our house tent was attacked in the middle of the night by a three young lads, one of them a tour rep, and the staff were unwilling to do anything about it.

The only saving grace of this campsite was the bar, which was cheap & cheerful and the bald Italian barman was extremely friendly.

This however, was not enough to make up for the disgraceful conditions and the astonishingly unhelpful staff. Stay here at your peril.
