“DODGY!”

Exactly! Stay away! I would spend a few more Euro's and stay somewhere nice.
The hotel itself is fine. it is just about these "guys" around the reception and in the lobby. They are there at all times wandering around with computers. They follow you to the floor and stand real close next to you. I have the feeling that they are "copying" or "scanning" credit card details and use that on their computers to buy things. THe girl who works the bar send signals to these guys to tell them who has credit cards. Also the guy "working" in the souvenir shop doesn't go unnoticed. The staff is rude and not interest in you. They laugh everthing away.
I forgot to mention that there was one guy having a broken leg one night and the next day his arm was broken. Weird.
Another point that interest me is that the manager of the hotel never reacts on any bad reviews.

“Never Again”

After reading all the reviews on this hotel, we were very worried about staying here. On arrival we were greeted by helpful staff and the room was very clean and tidy, but small. Bathroom was very small too but again, clean and nice clean fresh towels. Breakfast was not bad at all. All in all for the price we paid it was ok. Yes, its a bit far out and if it snows or there is a threat of snow the buses stop-but the bus stop is 5 mins away and it takes you right to the Vatican. (buy a ticket from the shops first though!) The only thing that really spoilt our stay was a large group of asylum seekers that seemed to be able to do as they pleased- getting very drunk on their own booze in the bar- throwing up and fighting. The staff seemed to turn a blind eye even when my husband was hurt when two of them were fighting in the bar- They should have been thrown out.
Also watch out for "tourist tax !!! that is aded to your bill when you leave.

“On outskirts of Rome use public transport or it will cost a fortune.”

Starting with check in. There were 3 people on reception when we checked in however none of them seemed to want to serve us. When they did I found them rude and unhelpful. We asked how to get into Rome from the hotel and we were told there was a map on the wall. I'm sorry but this is totally unacceptable. This hotel does not even appear on the tourist map.

If you want to get to Rome without costing a fortune you need to go out of hotel and walk forwards until you reach a road. Turn right at top and walk to end of road. Across the road on left is a bus stop. Get bus 32 to Ottovario Metro link. (It is near to the Vatican) from here you can access the metro for €1 a trip or €4 a day or €11 for 3 day tourist ticket this price includes buses as well. We had to get this information from other guests as like I said hotel staff were unhelpful.

Next Bedroom- More to a UK 2 star standard. Old needs updated and small. We also had twin beds which as a couple we found frustrating. The rooms were clean and tidy and the cleaning staff were very polite.

Food- Breakfast was very basic with croissants, ham, cheese and bread, cereal, yoghurt and various cakes. Could do with some fruit.

Dinner- We ate in the hotel on one occassion and the food was over priced and to a poor standard. The service was also poor and I had to ask 3 times for some water! Would recommend to go out of the hotel and use T Bone station at end of road where the service and food were great.

Check out- We paid the €3 a night city tax which was fine and expected. We were not even thanked for our custom which is very unusual. We put our cases into storage and had to wait 10 mins and ask twice for someone to get them. The reason this is so annoying is the keys were behind reception all along and the cupboard was joined to reception.

Would not recommend this hotel if you were planning a city break in Rome as you will waste at least an hour in transport time on bus or 17 mins and and a varying price in a taxi to city centre.

The place is not bad at all! Obviously in Rome 4 Stars are not as 4 Stars in Germany (where I live), but the price was just awsome!! 100 euros (excl. toursit fees) for three days for double room! We didnt experience much of the staff, as we had no problems at all! The breakfast was really big (the hotel has a lot of rooms), but most of it was sweet (I guess thats an Italian thing, as it was the same in Lignano). The quality of the food was average, but for 100 euros, what can you expect.. The location is not too bad, it is on the Metro station of Vatican, but with a bus which travels 20 minutes to the hotel ... You always have to ask for the bus stop, as the bus drivers dont announce the bus stops, and skips some of them...

“Too far out and zero customer service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

We booked this hotel via a package with Thomas Cook, when we arrived at the airport Rome admittedly had been caught out with the worst snow storms in 30 years, so the first thing to go wrong was our transfer didn't show. On calling they just said they couln't make it. After an hour or so on a bus getting into Rome then spending E45 on getting a taxi to the Grand Fleming Hotel we were then told that the restaurant was fully booked and the bar wasn't open (it was 9pm) so we would have to go out for anything to drink eat, which after a day's travelling to get there we weren't too keen on but trudged down the road as we'd have otherwise starved. The following three days got worse with snow and the service went down hill from there!

The staff aren't interested in the guests at all.
The rooms are basic and clean but no hot drink making facilities and the "mini bar" consists of 2 cans of coke, 2 beers and 2 bottles of water
Breakfast is a very basic continental, dried bread, croissants, cheap ham and cheese and yoghurt
The hotel is a long way from the centre, when the road were cleared and we could actually get a taxi it cost E10 each way, the buses weren't running when we stayed.
The hotel is little more than a large B&B with staff with no interest

Room Tip: Look at a different hotel!
