“Good value for money”

Booked this hotel on lastminute.com for a very reasonable price. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from 'Cornelia' Metro station so access to all of Rome is very good. It is not in a particularly nice part of town.. Lots of graffiti and rubbish.. But the hotel itself is clean. Very basic but we had a comfortable stay for the four nights we were there. In my opinion the main down side was the bed was two singles pushed together to form a double which was a little uncomfortable having a gap in the middle of the bed!! The staff were very friendly and accommodating - my partner is gluten and wheat free but was advised by the man on reception to point this fact out to the breakfast waitress and she in turn provided him with gluten free options at breakfast. I know a lot of people have complained about the size of the bedrooms - as far as I'm concerned you get what you pay for! If you are just going to use the hotel as your base for exploring Rome then I'd say the size of the room and bathroom was perfect! The only time we spent in the hotel was to sleep at night, which after a long day of sightseeing the last thing on my mind was the size of the room! Plenty of wardrobe and shelf space. All in all, an ideal place to stay when visiting Rome as it's not right in the centre it is peaceful at night.

“Ideal location for price”

Pros: Friendly service, all you can eat breakfast that is well stocked, reasonable rates, close to metro lines (10 minute walk), park across the street with panoramic view of Rome.
Cons: Small room (our room was one of the smallest), small bathrooms (even for European standards), high cost for internet access.
We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again if we ever return to Rome. We arrived early (~8:00 am) and the manager allowed us to check in early. We stayed here for 7 days and 6 nights and enjoyed consistently excellent and friendly service from the day manager. All the beds in all the rooms are two twin beds. The "king" beds are just two twin beds pushed together with king sized sheets and king size comforters. Heat worked exceptionally well in the room.

“European sized rooms, a tad dated and unclean, friendly service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

Stayed four nights in a family room with four beds. A tight squeeze. Small bathroom with smaller shower compartment in bathtub.
Walls were not the cleanest and breakfast was adequate and the same each day but hotel was a short walk to the bus lines and metro. Very convenient to get around the city.
A real nice restaurant, Frankie's, close to hotel.
Laundromat, drop off service, located close.
Reception and staff very helpful and friendly. Spoke very good English.
Good value.

“Pinewood Hotel is our choice of stay while in Rome!!”

Our group of 66 traveled to Rome and had the pleasure of staying at the Pinewood Hotel...again (our previous stay was in 2009). All of my communication from Texas to Rome was via email. As we were going on a Mediterranean Cruise, we flew into Rome a day early and spent the night at Pinewood Hotel. The office Manager had assured me that he would try to get everyone assigned a room for early check-in upon our arrival. After traveling from the U.S. and spending 13-1/2 hours in the air, the check-in process was a breeze!! Although the hotel is not located in the Squares or Vatican area, it was no problem for the group because we had pre-arranged motorcoach service for our traveling while in Rome. This is a very clean and accommodating facility and you cannot ask for a better front office staff. We had a group dinner at the hotel the night of our stay and the food was excellent (here again, the menu and coordination of the meal was done via email). The complimentary breakfast the next morning was very tasty as well. Hats off to Pinewood Hotel and its staff. Our next visit and stay will definitely be at Pinewood Hotel.

“Would have been nice to have stayed the full duration!!!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

OK where do I start?!!!
Arrived in Rome after a lovely flight with Jet2, to be told off by the transfer people!!! (consorzia - dont use them they are hopeless - make your own way to the hotel its very easy!).
We arrived at Pinewood and greeted by a lovely receptionist - who as soon as we told her our names, she went straight onto make a phone call, we knew at this stage that something was very very wrong!!!!
After she had finished on the phone we were told that the hotel was full and that they had thought we had cancelled our booking (still unsure why they thought that as it was part of a package deal with Thomas Cook and we were not told we had to reconfirm before we travelled).
She did however offer to get a taxi to take us to a nearby hotel (it was absolutely throwing it down at this point).
So..... we were told to come back in the morning (anytime???) and we would have a room for the night.
So.... we got a taxi to a nearby hotel - when we arrived there we were told that they only had one room left and so we didnt have much of a choice here!... the room was the room that looked as though they had used it for guests to use as a 'shower room', it was so run down that we thought we were actually staying at the Colleseum!
Nonetheless, we dropped our luggage and off we went to Rome - where we had a fabulous day sightseeing.
We then went back to the Pinewood at 10.00 am, the other hotel told us we had to check in after 2pm but we had a trip booked at 12.00 noon so we had to take our luggage somewhere. Imagine our surprise when we arrived and they told us our room was ready!!!! considering the check out time is 11.00 am - maybe our suspicious minds told us something was not quite right!
Anyway... they had tried to redeem themselves by being very helpful and leaving us a bottle of red wine (not sure if that was standard or not, but was very nice!).
The hotel overall is very nice - you get what you pay for and the breakfast although a little boring was sufficient.
Its on the the main route into the centre of Rome (Bus 49) and you can get around very cheaply - 1 euro per ticket or 4 euros for a pass.
Dont let this put you off as we were quite happy with what we got (eventually!) but I would recommend phoning the hotel to confirm before you fly!
Oh and as said previously if you can make your own way to the airport then do, as the transfer company were over an hour late, even though we had been told the day before what time they would be coming... luckily the driver drove like Lewis Hamilton and we just made it - although we werent seated together!
Rome is unbelievable, its cheap to eat in the right places and we had a lovely weekend. Be extra vigilant with your belongings and you will be fine, we had no trouble at any time and there are plenty of police around at the main sights..... enjoy xx

Room Tip: We had a room on the 2nd floor which as a double didnt have a balcony. Not sure about the rest but c...
