“Do NOT stay at this dive- it isn't even in Rome”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

Seriously, I booked this as part of a package and was aware it was 'a little' way out of the city but not this far! If you are landing at the airport anytime after 8pm you still have to take a taxi from Terminus rail station to the hotel. The taxi cost us 70Euros and throughout the journey the driver kept on saying to us 'why are you staying here- it isn't even in Rome! The hotel itself was horrible and I don't consider myself to be fussy. The room smelt of damp with a creaking old mattress, I didn’t find the people friendly at all (unlike some on this forum) and the breakfast was something you would expect to find in a backpackers hostel! We stayed one night and immediately found another hotel that was central and we were happy to stay in. Awful waste of time and money staying there and suggest others don’t make the same mistake

“Lovely Staff but not so nicer hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

I travelled with my cousin on a girls city break to Rome from London- we ended up checking into the hotel very late and the first room we were shown too the bed's weren't made and the toilet was very dirty. We went back down to reception and he showed us a 'nicer suite room', which was a lot larger and had a jacuzzi bath in, but then again the room was dirty and there was underwear on the bathroom floor.

We told the receptionist again and he managed to find us another room, that he checked before we went it. The bed in this room was made and the facilities clean, small but clean.

The older italian man at the reception desk the next morning was very helpful in showing us how to get to the train station, what to see in the few days we had there and where to get proper italian gelato. The hotel is a 2 minute walk to the train station, however you do have to cross quiet a busy road, so if taking children be a bit more careful about it. Trains into Rome are very frequent too - we never had to wait more than 5-7 minutes for one (and a lot cheaper than London).

Except for the bedroom mix up in the morning everything else was fine, the staff were extremely friendly- also a few cute backpackers there too.

“Decent for people on a budget”

If you are looking to find a decent place to lay your head for the night and wash up this place works. You definitely won't be traveling to Rome just for Hotel Flaminius. Its only about a 15 minute train ride from Piazza del Popolo. From Piazza del Popolo you have walkable access to the sights of Rome or you can get the Metro from there also. The Hotel is in a dirty, sketchy sort of neighborhood. We never felt uncomfortable being there but we spent very little time there also... to sleep and wash up only. The hotel has a friendly enough staff, average breakfast, and average rooms w/ Air Conditioning and a Washroom. It does get loud at times because it is right next to the train line and a road that is busy at times. The Hotel is kept clean but has a musty smell to it. We found the best restaurant a short walk away. Le Vere Grotte (http://www.leveregrotte.com/) had a great menu, friendly service and a wicked outdoor patio... this was easily the best food we had, by far, during our stay in Rome. All in all Flaminius was fine for the cost.

“Good Hotel location is far from city centre”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2011

This hotel is very good in term of the room size, cleanliness and breakfast. Staffs are good. However location is far from city center. It would invariably take you 40 min plus from Termini. As location is remote one has to keep tab of time in the evening so that you are not too late.

From Termini just take Bus No 910 to Marcini and then take Bus No 200. This is more convenient than Metro+Tram+Bus via Popolo.

“ok but if you can go elsewhere”

Staff were really friendly, rooms were clean, but if you look on the official website for this hotel it states there is a restaurant and 24hr bar, there were neither, so when you get back to the hotel after a day in the city there is nothing to do, the area surrounding the hotel is terrible, really rundown, the locals aren't that friendly either, the manager was lovely and really helpful though, another plus side is that it only costs 1 euro by train to the city.
