“Perfect location and staff, however poor breakfast and tiny rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2011

We have stayed at the L'Hotel Cinquantatre for 3 days. The location is perfect, all you need is around, whether you need Trevi Fountain, or Piazza de Ispania, or have fun at a Hard Rock cafe all is 5 minutes walk. The hotel is very safe, not pricy.
However rooms are very tiny, breakfast was very poor, we could not eat too much, since there were no differences on food. No fruits, no toasters, no juice, only jam, croissants, cold milk, and handmade coffee. But at the end of our trip I realised that such breakfast is all over the Italy might be different in 5 star hotels :).
Thus I would say the staff of the Hotel was the best during all our stay in Italy, since at the first day in Rome we have lost our luggage, and Luca and his dad MR. Enrico helped us a lot to find the luggage. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR GREAT JOB. .

“Very Helpful and friendly staff, Good value for a charming budget hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2011

Nima was working the front desk. He was very nice and knowledgeable. He spoke great english and also spanish . We were just looking for a hotel close to the US embassy because we had immigration problems returning to USA. We were able to stay there for a few nights without a reservation. The price was very reasonable. Great location, close to subway and some of the famous tourist areas like the Trevi fountains and spanish steps. The have a computer with internet you can use for free in the downstairs lounge. There is also wi-fi there. There is no internet in the rooms, but if you are going on a real vacation a free computer you can use for quickly checking email should be adequate.

“Small but good for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2010

I can't understand the negative comments about this hotel. We were booked at the Hotel Modigliani and they were full so they put us in here for a night. The desk staff were all family and the owner was on the desk in the late afternoon. They all spoke excellent English and were helpful and attentive. The room was adequate in size and relatively clean. Remember this is Rome we are talking about, one of the world's most expensive places to stay. The elevator was extremely small, not room for a person and the suitcase. The view from the breakfast room on the roof was great and breakfast was fine. All in all we would stay here again. Our room was at the front on the second floor but we had no trouble with noise and the internal arangements kept the room quiet from neighbours.

“Do not rely on your reservation'”

We booked this hotel for 3 nights in July 2010. However, when I and my wife arrived at the hotel, the man on the front desk told us he could not give our room since there was a problem related to a broken water pipe in the room. He had booked a room for us in a different hotel and he told that the room would be a superior one. Suprisingly, he did not even offer to call a taxi for us, he just said the hotel was 3 minutes walking distance from there. Actually, it turned to be an exhausting 15 minutes uphill walk with our luggages. When we got to that hotel, we realized that the room was superior to no room in any hotel in the world. Finally, we paid the same price for a poor farther hotel. I made a mistake booking this hotel. I had read a previous review telling the same story, I should have taken it into account.

“Good value for price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2010

We stayed here for 3 nights during our honeymoon.

Location: right up the street from Barberini metro stop. The metro location is convenient but it is a tad far from Piazza Navona and the Pantheon.

Rooms: a little small (especially the bathroom) but adequate and clean. Several people have commented about a smell and it is a bit musty after showering. The little balcony is cute. Try to ask for a room not facing the street, if possible - there are buses and garbage trucks that start their days early!

Service: the staff were all very nice and for the most part spoke excellent English. They made reservations for the Borghese Gallery and called to confirm our hotel reservation in Florence.

Breakfast: upstairs in a cute breakfast terrace area. Nice spread of fruit salad, selection of croissants and pastries, rolls, cereals, and juices. Fresh coffees and teas.

Internet: we didn't realize this, but there's a computer with free Internet on the first floor, where you would store luggage.

Overall - great value for the money. Sure, it could be a little nicer, but for a equivalent price, you couldn't get anything close to it.
