“Horrible!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2008

Please do not bother booking this hotel. I didnt even bother to take any pictures of the hotel which I should have. The lights in the hotel hallway that lead to our room are motion sensored and shutted off a couple of minutes later. The elevator only fits one person and their luggage. I could not even walk into my room with my luggage. The room is small, bathroom ceiling all MOLDED and not even brightly lit. It reminded me of a vacation horror movie gone bad. We REFUSED to stay overnight here!! My friends and I spent 2 hours calling around to all the nearby hotels then decided to cab around the local area to find another hotel which we stumbled onto Venetia Palace hotel. We booked this hotel with Alitalia vacations and was advised that we could not upgrade. Hotel Center cannot be listed as a 2 star hotel. I bet its worst than a hostel. Upon checking out the hotel clerk asked if something was wrong and we plainly told him we did not like the hotel. He was not accomodating. Four of my other friends was given an attic room. My other two friends was given a room that didnt lock and with 3 beds. HORRIBLE, DISGUSTING AND EWW...I really would not recommend staying here at all. The area is right next to chinatown in a shady part of town. Thank goodness its right around the corner from a busy street and down the block from Porta Maggiore Hotel. The only good outcome from this was the hotel clerk told us he'll reimburse us for the rest of the nights that was not used but he'll charge us for staying the hotel for 2 hrs.

“The worst for that price”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2006

Do not go there, we paid more than 120 € per night for a dark small room (bathroom was almost bigger than the room) and duveits were filthy. Breakfast was frugal: brick juice, packed buscuits and toast, tea and terrible coffee, the best in that breakfast was the hot croissants. Coffe was so bad that the lady serving it offered coffee from the coffe machine (expresso or capuccino) at a price of 1€. Staff is mean, they tried to charge us 0,50€ for a plan of Rome they voluntary offered us (we got it free later at the tourist information office). Sorroundings were absolutely terrible: prostitutes walked around the hotel whose main door is always closed (but you are opened upon ringing the bell) and surveilled by a CCTV. We had bought a tourist pack but we are sure that we could have easly got a better hotel for that crazy price. Do not let anyone to charge you so much for such a place.

“An okay hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 July 2006

We booked this hotel having been advised that it was close to the centre of Rome and near all the sights we wanted to explore. However, we arrived, in the pouring rain, and spent over an hour trying to find the place. We found Center 1 and a very dismissive woman told us to go around the corner. We found Center 2 to ask directions to Centre 3 and they just told us to go around the corner. Eventually we found the hotel and the man at the desk was very polite and showed us to the lift to take us to our room.

The room was small and very difficult to manouver around (and we are not big people!) There was little natural light and if you opened the window (you could only open it a little) it was very noisy (trains from the station and the trams)

The radio didn't work and only one bedside light.

The breakfast was adequate and the lady serving was very friendly.

Overall I would say if you want to be near the 'action' don't stay here but it is okay if you don't want to use your hotel during the day.
