“Clean but horrible location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2011

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights during New Years Eve. The hotel overall was so and so... Nothing special to write about. However, the location is terrible. The bus stop that takes you to "Roma Termini" (The main train station in Rome) is about a 10 minute walk and arrives every 30 minutes. The bus ride alone is about 15-20 minutes depending on the traffic.

The hotel room is VERY NOISY! You can hear everything from the elevator, to people walking in the hallways with their bags and the people in the room next to you having a normal conversation. The size of the room was average. The bed was also a pretty descent size considering that my boyfriend is 6 ft 7 (2 meters) tall. I will also add that the hotel and room was very clean and the decor wasn't so bad. Modern but not chic.

The staff at the front desk were not so friendly & charged the wrong credit card at the end of our stay. We will not return.

“Ars-mazing”

I really cannot understand the bad reviews for this hotel. I had read them before I visited and stayed at the Ars Hotel and so I was a little worried and concerned. I needn't have been. From the moment we arrived the staff could not do enough for us. They were also extremely helpful when we were asking advice on how to get to and from the different areas of Rome to either visit the monuments or to recommend a good place for us to eat.

This was my second time in Rome and the trip was a birthday present from my boyfriend. My boyfriend had made requests via email that we had a Jacuzzi bath in our room as a treat for me, and this had been arranged for our arrival.

The breakfast it a traditional European Breakfast with the bread, toast, jam, cereal, yoghurt, ham, cheese, eggs and the delicious cake that you only ever get severed for breakfast whilst in Europe. As a well as teas, juices and and coffees.

The hotel is a little way out of central Rome but it is very easy to find your way into the city, especially with the staff being as helpful as they were. They also provided us with maps to help you get around the city and would detail down our route and the bus numbers that we needed. I quite enjoyed being a little out of the city as I felt that I experienced and saw how the some of the Italian’s lived. There is also a traditional deli close to the hotel on the main road and an ice-cream parlour selling pastries and cakes as well. Drinks, ice-cream and pastries were also cheaper further out of the city.

I decided to write this review after reading all of the other bad reviews regarding this hotel. It really was a lovely hotel with friendly and approachable staff. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit to Rome.

“Appauling welcome, but otherwise OK hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 April 2011

We visited Rome for a 3 day break and this hotel was advertised as being fairly cheap and within easy reach of the city centre. You need to get a bus which takes about 30 minutes which was OK, but in hindsight it would be have been better to stay closer.

The most notable part of our stay was our welcome. We had requested via the hotel for a taxi to meet us at the airport, but on arrival there was no sign of the driver. We managed to ask someone and they packed us off to a taxi. It turned out this was not the hotel's taxi (they'd sent it to the wrong airport) and cost me a lot of money. On arrival at the hotel, we received a barrage of abuse from the staff member that really made me think twice about staying there. Unfortunately they did very little to make up for this during our stay.

Otherwise, the rooms are OK, the general location of the hotel isnt great (in a bit of a dingy back street) but Rome is great and if you just want someone to lay for the night with a decent breakfast, this fits the bill.

“Four Stars worth one”

Arrived at the hotel and checked in in a room we liked. Later we discovered that the staff moved our thing to a much worse room without a desk. After complaining the staff sent us wandering around in search of a room with a desk. It seems they did not know which room has what.
Finally found one.
The next day we arrived late at night and our bed was without a blanket or douvet. We called and first they sent us a single blanket not enough to cover the bed. Called again and they claimed they run out of douvet ... where was the one we used the night before ?? finally after insisting on the phone the douvet arrived and we had to make the bed by ourselves. Incredible.
Service is of a 1 star hotel, facilities and room can be rated TOP at 3 star. 4 stars are overrrated.

“ARS staff comes honestly by it's name”

We haven't checked out and I am writing this before we leave. While the facility is reasonable the customer service is atrocious. Internet in the room didn't work since the day we checked in. "Wireless" internet was allegedly available but never worked and we were told "it's those American computers." Not once was an offer made to find a solution or resolve the problem. We had no way to reach friends and family.

Customer service throughout the stay was deplorable and got worse the longer our stay lasted. The topper when we were "fined" for an alleged wine stain on the bedding. We were told we were to not drink the in the room and we had carried our wine glasses right by the managers on the way to our room, having purchased the wine at the hotel bar, bad wine at that, and nothing was said.

The fine equaled almost one night's stay and ironic that a hotel uses bedding that cannot be easily laundered for a resonable rate.

There are plenty of nice places to stay in Rome. Make sure you find one of them.
