You wouldn't want to have this as a base of operations in my opinion as the neigborhood is pretty gross and traffic and constant car horns (like 30 blowing all at the same time) are kind of annoying. We found it perfect though though to come in from Cinque Terre in the evening as the train station is a block away and grab the airport train the next am. Room was nice, clean and staff fine and the price very fair on internet . Can't comment on the breakfast as we had to leave before that. I would check out neighborhoods near the Spanish Steps for a longer stay as this train station ilke any , makes for a grimy neighborhood and you won't get the true flaver of Rome. A few years ago I stayed at a R. Steves fav "Hotel Nardizi Americano" which I thought was very nice and central and I notice he still loves it.
