“Excellent location and spacious”

Enrico was very helpful in providing bus directions to the hotel for my boyfriend who was coming from southern Italy by train. Although it required a little rescheduling for him to make it there by the 9pm check-in time, he was happy to make it in time to do some exploring before I arrived the next morning. It was also really nice to have free internet access during our few nights there although we had to go into the hallway to get a signal. Having the bus so close made it easy to get around although we wound up walking most of the time (bring comfy shoes and be careful on the stairs down as they can be a bit slippery). It was nice not to have to stay by the train station, but to know that it was easy enough to get to when it was time for us to leave for Florence.

In the evening, that area seemed to quiet down considerably, so on the way back, you may want to grab water or whatever you'll need before crossing the Ponte Cavour. One thing that there's no shortage of in Rome is places to eat though; my boyfriend went out and found some of the best pizza I had on our whole trip on my first night there when I was too tired to go out. I only truly came to appreciate the neighborhood that we were in on our last night in Rome, when there was no availability at Antiqua Roma and we had to stay near the train station where the streets are much more hectic and filled with tourists (although you can never truly escape us).

We had a nice double room with a balcony and an en suite bathroom, which was great. Enrico let us leave our bags in the hallway for a few hours after checking out (the check out is a little early at 10am), which was helpful although then we did not have access to a bathroom. Even though there are bathrooms in the hallway, they are for the rooms, so there's no communal restroom to use, FYI. Others have mentioned the street noise, which was there, but not much of a problem for us. Waking up to the sounds of an Italian argument and some horn honking was oddly entertaining and just a good reminder to get out there and start exploring. The shutters completely darkened the room so if not for the noise, I may have slept through the whole beautiful morning. I'd definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for an en suite bathroom, but don't be dismayed if you can't get one.

“Delightful rooms, great host, perfect location”

My wife and I have stayed at a spacious double room with bathroom for a weekend in September. The B&B is on a single floor of a large stone-walled building built in early 20th century. The building is typically Roman, and street it is on is nice with small shops and a few cafes. Reaching the hotel is extremely easy with SIT bus that has a stop on Piazza Cavour located about 50 meters away. The room is very nicely decorated with many amenities you can find in a regular hotel but with an added personal touch in decoration. Our host Enrico is one of the nicest persons we met during our travels who goes out of his way to help us for everything we may need.

The location is perfect. It is located just across the river next to Palace of Justice. Every place you want to visit in Rome is within walking distance. For example one of the furthest touristic place colosseum is 30 minutes away by walking. Of course, on your way you see lots of wonderful distractions, this duration may increase considerably.

From what we have heard from past visitors to Rome, finding a good place within a reasonable budget at the historic center is almost impossible. This makes Antiqua Roma extremely unique and we strongly recommend to everyone.

“Great base for exploring the city”

We've just returned from a short stay at the Antiqua Roma and it met all of our expectations. We could easily walk to all of the city's main attractions in under half an hour (some much nearer), but the building was situated far away enough to escape the crowds and provide a little peace and quiet. Our room was spacious and comfy - complete with four poster bed and free mini bottle of wine on arrival. Bathroom, although outside the room, was nice and clean, and having a sink in the room was really handy. Enrico was also extremely helpful in providing us with travel info and maps. All in all, really good value for money - would highly recommend staying here.

“nice base to tour rome”

We stayed here for 3 night at the end of may. Enrico was super nice and friendly, provided us with free map and let us borrow several guidebooks. the room and bathroom were clean. the hotel location is good, as its really close to taxi, bus stops and Vatican. the neighborhood was good as well with several food places right next to it. One gotcha though is that it was loud. it is not very sound proof at all and you get a lot of street noise inside the room. We woke up several times a night by different noises, including the noise of the garbage pick up truck which made its round to this neighbor hood at 2AM. Its relatively cheap for being so close to everything and being in the nice part of town however if you are a light sleeper beware.

“This place oozes charm and coziness, we loved it!”

My boyfriend and I absolutely loved Antiqua Roma! This was our first time in Italy (my first time in Europe period) and I have never stayed in a B&B so I was a little skeptical. But all the hotels I looked at were pretty pricey and this place had great reviews so we decided to just go for it. It was everything we could have asked for. It's like a little apartment. The entire place was spotless and beautifully decorated. And the owner Enrico was the best! He was very hospitable and helpful throughout our whole stay. The room was ample size for both us plus all of our luggage. But the real treat was the balcony! (I think only the rooms with the private bathroom have this) Inside the room there are these huge doors that open up to a beautiful stone balcony overlooking the street. Even though you can't see a ton, I just loved it so much. We drank our wine out there every night we stayed. Not too mention, this place is the perfect location to walk to all the major attractions in Rome. There are also buses, taxis and the shuttle to the airport right around the corner. We couldn't have asked for more. No question, we will definitely return to Antiqua Roma next time we're in Rome!

The only things I can suggest to make this place better is having a refrigerator and coffeemaker for guests.
