“Never felt sorry for my choice”

This hotel is situated very near to the most important transport point in Rome - Termini station. Our room, which was on the 6th floor, was big, with wonderful air condition and large bathroom with small bath cabin. The lift to reach it was very small but never waited too long for it. In same building there are apartments and yellow hostel but never heard any noise there. We felt more save cos there were locks on every floor as well.
Excellent italian restaurant just in front the hotel.
Breakfast was on charming terrace and we really enjoyed the time we spent there - wonderful cappuccino, various kind of sweet bread and unfortunately no salty meals at all. But this is typical for italians and for their standards this breakfast was huge!
Staff was kind and friendly! I would stay there again.

“We've been disapointed”

Staff is a family which speak and understand English very badly. Thay do not make efforts to make you undestand what they are saying. Instead you should make great efforts to undestand their English with strong Italian accent. Moreover thay criticized my English. Nonsense.

Room was noisy. Noise from the corridor and noise of the water from the neighboring bathrooms was incredible.

The bathroom was the most inconvenient I ever seen. No shower booth, only some very shallow tray. Whet you taking shower all floor will be unavoidly wet by water splash from under the shower curtain. There are almost no place to hang the towel.

Breakfast war very poor. No fresh cheese, salami, ham or something, only that in small containers. No fresh of preserved fruits. Juice from the mashine was horrible.

In general hotel is suitable for stay for a couple of nights. But there was too much small inconveniences for us.

And one more important thing. They allow to print only positive comments from travellers on their web-site. My comment was not so positive, so you will not see it there. It is at least unfair.

“Corallo -- Great rates -- Great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2009

We just returned from spending five days in Rome at the Corallo. They have up-dated their reception area and their breakfast room is new and has a beautiful roof-top terrace. The location--close to Termini--is perfect for transportation and walking to all the historic sites. The staff is always welcoming, helpful and anxious to see that you are happy with your room. The rooms are spotless and while the bathroom is small--typical Italian hotel bathroom--how much time do you spend in a bathroom. Our room had a tiny terrace with a table and chairs. Some of the rooms have a shared terrace but we prefer the rooms with the private terrace. We always stay at the Corallo when in Rome and are never disappointed.

“Very convenient”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2008

We had booked two double rooms for 6 nights for my husband and I and my parents. Ages range from 35 to 62.

When we arrived by taxi from the airport, the front of the hotel looked awful. We were surprised to find that the building was shared by private tenants and a youth hostel at the front. Hotel Corallo was at the back of the building. The reception area was very small and you had to reach it by going past the youth hostel reception and lift. Although we managed to check in ok the man on reception didn't smile once and made no attempt to speak english. The hallway looked awful and reminded us of the film "Hostel". Scary!!

However when we reached the 6th floor where both our rooms were we were pleasantly surprised that it was more secure than it initally looked. The room although small, without fridge or coffee making facilities was very clean. Bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a bit odd and we had to go up to two steps to reach it and no bath. When we used the shower it made the whole floor very wet which was a bit dangerous when conbined with the tiled steps and floor. Towels were more like british tea towels not our big fluffy ones at home but they did work quite well.

We had a small balcony which faced the centre of the whole building (not very pretty) but at least we had one.

Sound proofing did not exist in the rooms though and we heard the couple next door using the toilet, arguing, having sex etc etc.
On occasions this was quite entertaining although not so good when late at night.

Also their website states that it is a friendly family run hotel. There were only three members of staff who were friendly and made any effort to speak at all.

There was also no area to sit in at reception really or meet friends and it would have been nice to have a bar area. There was one next door at the Yellow Youth Hostel but you have to put up with very young travellers.

Breakfast was ok but could have been better. Coffee, roles and croissants only. The first morning we had a really friendly man serve us. After that most mornings we had a girl who couldn't smile and gave you the impression she didn't want to be there.

Generally though it was ok. Location was great as only a five minute walk from the main metro, train and bus station in rome. I don't really think though that the €120 per night per room was very good. We would have had much better facilities in the uk for that price.

Having stayed in a different hotel last year on the otherside of Termini I probably won't go back to the Corallo again. The other one had great breakfast, a beautiful reception bar area, baths in rooms and a free mini bar in each room for the same price.

  • Liked — Cleanliness of room and convenience to attractions.
  • Disliked — Quality of room in relation to price.

“good choice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2008

The hotel is very close to Termini Station and the main sites of Rome so in few minutes you can get everywhere by tube or bus!
The price of the room (65€ pro night for a double room) is good for the services that they offer! Clean room and bathroom for a 2 stars hotel!
The only one thing that we suggest to improve is breakfast ..they should increase the choice of the food (any ham, salami, sausages, cheese., eggs...) and try to to be more polite (there was a lazy woman that gazed us all the time and served hot drinks without coffee spoons!).

Anyway I recommend this hotel to everyone that is planning a wonderful holiday in this everlasting city.
