“First-time tourists to Rome think carefully.”

I stayed at Pantheon View B&B earlier this year. The lift closed the day after I arrived, which meant 6 flights of lung-busting stairs. I was ok, but I was worried about the older German couple who I helped carry their bags who arrived the next day. You have to pay up front, which I wasn't expecting. I saw the hostess (who was very pleasant) on the first day, and didn't see her again for four days!!! I actually left on the final day without seeing any staff at all. The staff obviously trust the guests! I think I would be a bit nervous if I needed a Doctor or some other service, or if there was a security issue, as I wouldn't know how to sort it out! Also, the lack of staff means there is no-one to give you travel tips or restaurant recommendations. If it was my first time to Rome, I would have felt a bit lost. I don't actually think I'll stay there again, even though it is fantastically located, as chances are I'd need a dentist and there would be no-one to help!

“Highly recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

I've stayed at the Pantheon View B&B two times and shall return there in March. The location is fantastic, the rooms are charming and clean, the balcony and the terraces make the stay even better. Friendly service, nice atmosphere, very good value for money. If breakfast is your favorite meal, you might be disappointed, but it is a normal continental breakfast. Bit of a bother with cash payment on arrival, but all in all: this is really a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Three of the rooms have balcony/terrace

“definitely the worst stay ever”

I booked through expedia and after looking at the photos and reading the reviews thought it looked like a small family run and charming place to stay. The reality was a dirty, basic, and very tired room with no air conditioning, 2 cheap loud plastic fans, threadbare towels in the bathroom, a cheap and broken pump soap for use with both the sink and the shower, beds that would not look out of place in a tent, dirty sheets (I had to wrap my own t-shirt around the pillow to sleep on it) and that's before the breakfast......

To call it breakfast would just be a joke, a few cheap cakes in plastic wrappers, juice which was basically squash, and a pot of coffee on an old coffee machine that had clearly be there since the day before and just heated up.....awful doesn't begin to describe it.

And to insult to injury they only accept cash (clearly they must be avoiding their taxes) which wasn't stated at time of booking and then help my passport hostage until I gave it to them! after leaving bags there to store and collect later there was no0one present who spoke English and after using the intercom for 20 minutes someone very rude reluctantly opened the door and cursed us for interrupting her.

To summarise, just avoid this place at all costs...... for 160 euros p/night it was an unbelievable waste of money and had we not arrived in Rome so late and had my passport taken away would have found somewhere else immediately.

Room Tip: please just stay somewhere else!

“Great place to stay!!”

This wonderful small bed and breakfast is located next to Pantheon, and when you stay there you feel like a natural part of the Roman society.

The atmosphere in the B&B is warm and friendly. The rooms are nice, and the one we stayed in had a wonderful terrace with a view to top of Pantheon. Sitting there gave a new experience of the Roman summer - with the sounds and atmosphere from the city.

“Quaint little B&B and practical base for exploring central Rome”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2011

Aw, where do I start with the Pantheon View, bless its little cotton socks. It is clearly described on the website and 'does exactly what it says on the tin'. Yes, the front door is slightly tricky to locate the first time you arrive but after that its easy, yes the elevator is the smallest one i've ever seen and squeezed into but to me this all adds to the charm of the place. The bed is comfy, the room has all the basic B&B essentials you need on a holiday. However, you cannot fault the Pantheon View for its location. I wouldn't say its a view but you can see a corner of the Pantheon or the roof of it (depending on room) so technically it is a view. Its literally 30 seconds from the Pantheon so if you want a true view then just walk outside and there it is in all its glory. The only improvement the B&B could make is in the bathroom - the shower is a squeeze and the water temperature is a bit hit and miss throughout the day but again, it's not a showstopper by any means and adds to the cuteness and quirkiness of the place. For the price and location within central Rome you cant really fault it. If you want to pay more, then sure there are other places of higher standard but it is so reasonably priced for its location I would definitely stay there again (now I know about its quirks). After check in you're kind of left to yourself really as the host gives you a tour of 'the house' which makes you feel welcome. The 'breakfast' is served early but you can help yourself on a tray and take it back into your room or onto your balcony to eat. the breakfast is simple - cheese, bread, pastries etc - and cakes are left out during the day which are free to take with you or have whenever you are peckish. The rooms are cleaned between 1000-1100 which is a bit early but a 'do not disturb' sign on the door solves this problem - and to be fair we left our room after 1100 each day we were there and the room was still cleaned after this time which was nice of them. If you want a fancy pants boutique B&B in Rome then this is not the place for you, but if you want practicality in terms of room, provisions and location then this is definitely the place for you and the price cannot be faulted! Long may the Pantheon View live :-)

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 1 which was a double with a shared balcony (with Room 2) and side view of the Pant...
