“Good location”

We stayed here in April 2011 for 4 days of our honeymoon, the hotel itself is very clean and has friendly staff who are only too happy to help you with directions etc. The rooms are nice with very high ceilings and are kept clean everyday while you explore the many sights of Rome. Breakfast is defiantly continental with plenty of bread and cakes which does take a little getting use to as there is no option to have toast or cereal etc.

The location of this hotel is perfect as it is a stones throw away from the Spanish steps, the Trevi fountain and the excellent shopping. My best experience personally was visiting the Vatican (worth taking a guided tour as very interesting and the sistene chapel was amazing) my husband really enjoyed the colesseum but be aware of the people outside who charge you 20 euros to take photos using your own camera. You also get plagued by men trying to sell you roses and cotton handmade bracelets for 10 euros each!

We personally found Rome to be very expensive for everything but all in all we still enjoyed the experience.

“Great location”

Small hotel located on one of the main streets of Rome, When I first got to the hotel I was really worried first about the 3 flights of stairs to drag my suitcase up (there is a small old lift in the middle of the staicase but a bit scary looking) and then we were then greeted by a miserable looking receptionist and given our key. When getting to the room it was tiny but I was relieved as we were on the back of the building (nice and quiet) overlooking a small garden/courtyard. Although we had the lift shaft behind our bed which would be annoying for light sleepers. The room was adequate for a weekend break as we were only in there to sleep and bathe, and was clean and tidy.
I couldn't get the aircon to work but it wasn't needed anyway.
I think the building could do with a revamp but on the whole was ok for what we needed. Breakfast could have been alot better and if you haven't got a sweet tooth wouldn't bother with it.
But the best thing about this hotel is the location you may as well say your on the road of the Spanish steps, about 5 minutes casual walk to trevi fountain and 10 minutes to the Patheon. To be honest the only time we needed to use any transport is to and from the airport. Everywhere was within walking distance. I don't think you could get a better loctaion for your money.

“Very tired and depressing hotel”

We checked straight out on arrival. They must have spent a fortune photoshopping the pictures of the rooms for their web site as they are nothing like is in reality. We thought something was not right on arrival with a grubby unwelcoming entrance that didn't even appear to be a hotel. Dusty dried pampas grass hangs limply from pots in hall, old fashioned interior and views over a dank back of a building. Loo not working and voices easily heard from next room is not what you expect for £185 per night. This is more like a 2 star £50 a night hotel. Only good thing was the receptionist and the central location. We found wonderful hotel for £140, hotel Metropolis, near metro and easy bus route.

“Beautiful Hotel, Perfect location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

This hotel is located just off one of the main streets and was the perfect location for sightseeing. Turning left out of the hotel and down a couple of side streets takes you to the Trevi fountain. Left out of the hotel roughly the same distance are the Spanish steps.

On arrival we found the hotel to be up 2 flights of stairs with the option of a nice wooden lift up the centre. The reception was through two modern glass doors into a classically decorated entrance hall with wood desk. The staff were always friendly and promptly passed on faxed messaged with information about booked excursions and flight transfers. The desk was always manned and the attached lounged comfortably lit and clean.

Our room was spacious with high ceilings and wooden floors to keep the whole place cool. There were extra blankets and pillow in the walk in wardrobe and an information guide on the writing desk. the bathroom was clean and spacious also, the water was a bit loud but this was obviously a very old historical building. Finally although it was the middle of July the temperature inside the hotel was always comfortable and the shutters on the windows allowed a good nights sleep even in the middle of a busy tourist area.

“Great location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

We stayed here for 3 nights as the first leg of our Italian adventure, moving to Venice and Lake Garda afterwards.
The location was great, very close to the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain.
The place itself was rather unusual to us - on the second floor in an old building, with a very tiny and old lift to get to it. The entrance to the building itself was not the smartest, but the hotel was rather quaint and in some ways rather lovely.
It was clean and the staff were friendly. The room was a little small, but the bathroom was very nice. Breakfast was ok, but nothing to rave about.
We were glad that this was the first hotel on our trip and not after the 2nd and 3rd as it would have been a bit of a let down after these I think. But as a base for a sightseeing trip we thought it was pretty good and I loved the character of the place!
