I’m a student and stayed in Casa Olmata during an archaeologically excursion. I have seen lots of horrible accommodations these last years but Casa Olmata is beyond every description.
Everything you can read here is correct! Including the fact that our group also shared our private area (bath room and kitchen) with a couple, a man and a women, probably gipsy, who lived in a screen of board on the balcony behind our kitchen. Our sleeping room (we were fife girls) was separated from that persons only through a room door without a proper lock. We needed three days to notice that, we wondered who is using our bathroom, that we recognized because we cleaned the bathroom ourselves, and than on the third day, one of my fellow student run in the men when she came out of the sleeping room on her way to the bathroom. We were absolutely shocked!
The bathroom was as dirty as described in other reviews. The shower curtain was black from fungi. I insisted and so it was changed so we were able to use the shower were the water was cold and the armature was broken.
The kitchen was impossible to use because it was too dirty and too many pieces of furniture were broken and out of work including the fridge.
We shared the sleeping room with fleas. That became clear on the second day, because three of us had bites from that tiny little beasts. I have no problems with cockroaches in Africa but fleas are too much.
Of course there was no wifi, no hot or cold drinks and no breakfast you would want to eat.
