My wife and I recently stayed at this convent the end of October 2005...it was ok with me but my wife threatened me that if she had to stay at a place like this again she would never go back to Rome. Well let me address the positive first. Their location is their only asset. Its within a walking distance of between 10 to thirty minutes from almost everything. The spanish steps are one block away. That is, if you are interested in sitting in the overrated steps and shopping in the extremely high priced touristy Via Condotti. but someone goning on a "convent" budget is not gonna be interested in paying $1000 dollars for a pocket book. Basically the hallways are "Dingy" the lights are kept off...eery feeling....the rooms are small and the lighting is Dim.. difficult for women to apply some makeup...We felt the place was very dirty and not cleaned properly. Bad tiny elevator, gets stuck. Spend a bit extra and get a hotel. do yourself a favor and go in style. the early curfy 10:30 stinks.

I visited Rome last summer with my 80+ year old mother and a female cousin from England. This convent/ hotel was the perfect place for us. It was very reasonably priced, the rooms were newly renovated, clean, and the room my mother and I shared had a private bath. The included breakfast was served in a lovely diningroom complete with linens and china. Possible downsides for some visitors - not all rooms have a private bath and I'm not sure if there are other than single beds - the rooms on the street side can be quite noisy with the never-ending traffic below - there is a curfew - 10:30, as I recall, which would prevent some activities such as the night walk across Rome. BUT I'd stay there again without hesitation - it was like a very safe haven in a city we often did not feel entirely safe in - the nuns spoke little English but were charming none-the-less. For our purposes five stars.
