“Fine for a short break in Rome”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

We stayed here for 3 nights at the start of our honeymoon. I didnt expect anything spectacular from the hotel and therefore was not disappointed. Its nothing flash but it was clean, well located, had air con and a comfy bed. All that you need if you plan to be out sightseeing all day anyway. There was plenty to eat at breakfast but the tea and coffee could have been a bit nicer.

Room Tip: We had a room that faced into the court yard which was fine.

“Excellent location but..........”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

Although this hotel was in an excellent location for our explorations of Rome, the hotel is in dire need of a renovation and especially a coat of paint. The room furnishings were fairly new but very Spartan. The bathtub and facets need replacing. There were scuff marks on the wall in our room that were not cleaned the whole time we were there and we ran out of hot water in the morning. Breakfast was good and the front desk very helpful but we would not stay there again.

“Couldn`t recommend”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

First impressions were that it wasnt too bad but by day 3 I couldn`t wait to leave and from what I saw of other 3 star hotels in the area the San Remo definately seemed to lag behind. Sore points included the cockroaches scampering for cover in our room, the strange smell in our room, the lack of any hot water, the air con didnt work, the lift felt like a death trap ready to plunge to the bottom at any moment. Also the hotel "lounge" feels more like a hospital waiting room- you wont want to spend any time there. We went to the Great Western around the corner and used their sofas and bar! Saw another couples room and it definately seemed better than ours but no hot water for them. I suppose if all you want is a bed for the night close to the Termini then this will fit the bill. But with so many other much nicer hotels close by I cant see why anyone would chose here. Thought the accomodation tax that had to be paid in cash before check out was a bit of an insult but guess thats Rome for you.

Room Tip: Avoid 5th floor!

“2nd visit to this hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

2nd Visit still a good experience, convenient for all transport and within walking distance of some sites. Very clean, friendly staff. Breakfast good and better than last stay. Only downside bathrooms clean but dated and need upgrading, water not hot enough unless you pick your time. Would certainly re\commend as value for money and would stay again.

Room Tip: Room at back dingy views but quiet

“Basic but clean”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

Very conveniently situated for Termini and getting into centre of Rome. Buy a Roma pass and you can use every bus, minibus, train, tube free!!!
Despite negative reviews I've read its fine. The beds are hard but comfy, bathrooms very old but clean and serviced with clean towels everyday. Water is a bit of a trickle and they do need to get it sorted so the more who write and complain the better. Breakfast is more than adequate. Nice fresh rolls, meats, cheese, cereals, croissants etc.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor as there's less traffic noise.
