“comfortable room but few amenities other than breakfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2011

we stayed here two nights, family of four, mum, dad, two teenagers. We booked an apartment which advertised 1 x double and 2 x single sofa beds.

we checked in and got to the apartment. it was split into two rooms, living area had two single sofa beds as advertised but the main bedroom had two single beds which was a disappointment as not as advertised.

the bathroom was large and water pressure was good with plenty of hot water.

the kitchenette was bare of any utensils, plates or cutlery. there was an extra charge if the kitchenette was used. there was a fridge though.

the wiring in the apartment was a bit worrying as not all powerpoints worked and one next to the bed in the main bedroom had the plate hanging off the wall with wires poking out. we unplugged that point and did not use it due to fire risk.

there was a pool which looked nice but there was no information in the room as to how to access it, or what hours (if any) it was available.

breakfast was adequate with toast, spreads, cereal, yogurt, good coffee and a selection of pastries.

there was no internet access. on enquiry at reception we were advised to go next door to the crown plaza and ask for a code.

the apartment reception was able to provide some maps and basic directions about how to get buses to rome etc.

overall it was a good place to stay even though it wasn't central as the bus system was very convenient.

the downside was the nagging worry about the electrical wiring problem and the lack of good places to eat or self catering facilities.

there was enough free off-road parking within the grounds.

there is a laundrette in bravetta (approx 1 km walk/drive) as well as a basic but reliable chinese restaurant.

bus stops outside crown plaza next door and goes to vatican city. short walk/change for the metro to most other locations. if relying on public transport (which is advisable) would be wise to research ahead of visit as limited information available from Tourist Information etc

Room Tip: get the 4 euro bus/metro deal if you stay here

“Disapointment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2011

I and 3 friends booked 2 twin rooms for our stay over new year.

We were put on the top floor at opposite corners, even though we had booked the rooms at the same time. was quite a trek from reception, then to our rooms, as the lift doesnt go all the way up.

We found the rooms to be extremely basic and srcuffy - dodgy looking plug sockets, ancient bed-blankets, old carpet, decor & furnishings, selotaped-together-remote control.

The amenities were also pretty poor - there was a kitchenette in our rooms, which only had 2 pans, 2 glasses and 2 expresso cups! No cutlery, kettle, etc etc.
We didnt intend to self-cater, but a cup of tea/coffee in the mornings would of been nice (there is a vending machine on the floor below reception but we only found this on the last day (we werent told about ti) and it only gave out empty cups, for which reception would not refund us as they insisted that there was an out of order sign on the machine, which there wasnt, and that it wasnt theirs thus not their responsibility).

Also, the hot water runs out early in the morning, so when we arrived at 8pm, there was no choice other than o have a cold shower.
Plus the shower head in our room was broken thus you had to hold it.

Location-wise, it is quite far out - 20 minute walk to the nearest metro. There is a taxi rank at the much much nicer hotel next door, and a bus stop, but reception couldnt give us any info on what the bus times were & after a few attempts at waiting for a bus for 20mins plus we ended up just walking. a Taxi to the metro was only 5-7 euros though.

Only plus points was that the bathroom looked like it had been recently refurbished, and the heater very quick to heat the room. Although some instructions on how to operate it would of been nice as we spent a rather cold first night.

Overall I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend it to anyone.

Definately not 3*, not even 1 in my opinion.

“Perfectly decent hotel...enjoyed it!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2010

Stayed at the hotel as it was close to a conference I was attending in Rome. I thought the hotel was fine. My two colleagues had literally an apartment each, I had a large double room. There is a lovely looking swimming pool, although it was shut due to time of year.

It is a basic hotel, which is out of the centre of Rome, but it had easy access into Rome on buses which would connect you with the metro and taxis from town were not expensive. The staff were accomodating and friendly. I was told two thing prior to visiting Rome for the first time - the rooms will be tiny and breakfast will be rubbish. The room was massive with a balcony facing onto tennis courts and the breakfast, I thought, was fine, more than I expected.

Yes I agree the hotel needs an upgrade a bit, it's looking a bit old. However, I had the best sleep I've had in ages in their beds! Don't expect luxury, just simple, clean, large rooms with a connection to the city centre on the main road. I would definitely stay there again, save my money for enjoying nights out in Roma & safe in the knowledge I'll sleep like a log!

“A very good compromise to stay in Roma with a family”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2010

This hotel has better days, but the rooms are spacious, the parking is wide and as a key equipment, the pool is brillant : big (~20 m), supervised by very gentle people. A pool like this help a lot in Roma in august. The staff is not so comprehensive for a family : we had 2 rooms at 2 different floors, we ask to use the kitchen in one apartment and it was not possible. but the pool and the pool guy save the rest.

“a bit outside but with alright bus connections”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 June 2010

Location:
The hotel is located a bit outside of the centre but there are a few bus lines that bring you into the city. Bus 98 for example ends close to the Castel Sant'Angelo. There are also buses to the metro stations of line A. It is therefore not a problem to go to the city and back, at least until 24:00. Then there is only one night bus that is not as frequent as the day service. A bit troublesome is the journey from the airport to the hotel since the shuttle bus is only serving Termini station and the Piazza de Cavour, though the route pretty much passes the area of the hotel.
I suggest to get off the shuttle at Piazza de Cavour and go along the river to catch bus 98 or 891 in front of the vatican. This saves you the ride to termini and the metro.

Hotel:
The hotel is more a serviced appartment place than a hotel. The rooms are spacious and equipped with tv, balcony, hairdryer and the standards you expect in a 3 star hotel.
The doors may need some revision since they are just thin wooden doors with a simple lock and dont offer that much security.
The breakfast offers enough to be fed for the day. Dont expect too much and you wont get disappointed. You find quite a selection of things but no fresh once like eggs or cold cuts.
