We stayed here for part of the week along with a large, international conference group. About a 25 minute ride from the airport, in a suburban area of Rome. Certainly nothing on the outside grabs you - very 70's slab/drab exterior, with some nice gardens and an Olympic-sized pool, which was not yet open for the season. Too bad, because this hotel, which caters to the conference crowd, could certainly benefit from the installation of some gym facilities. The foyer and multi-level bar/seating area are vast, clean and modern spaces - not unlike an airport terminal. Surely there is enough (wasted) space to accommodate a rec centre, and with the number of conferences going on (at least 3 while I was there), I think the hotel is missing an opportunity to cater to a captive audience. Captive in the sense that one must walk at least 15 minutes to the nearest Metro station to get to the centre of town, or cab it, for something to do. But then again, it is meant to be a functional, efficient conference centre - which it is. Staff is generally helpful and efficient; the meals and service are good; the rooms are spacious enough (though there is no doubt about what goes on in your neighbour's room...). Each room has its own balcony, overlooking - nothing in particular. Conference set up met the standard. The hosted dinner event was excellent, as was the dinner. Overall no real issues or complaints. And yet, this is not where I would want to spend my leisure time. There are some decent restaurants a short walk away, but nothing else in the area to draw one's interest. And one can only spend so much time examining so many leather handbags in the small hotel shop, and wonder how the clerk can smilingly spend 15 hours a day not going mad from nothing to do. Veni, vidi, vici...
