“Only for the buget traveller”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2007

I didn't really enjoy my staty at Capitol. There always seemed to be a slightly smoky smell in the room, and having a shower completely flooded the bathroom. Slats were missing from the window so light flooded in all the time from street lights, and there was always stairs to lug your bags up and down regardless of what floor you are on. The breakfast was basically just rolls and the tea was strange looking and tasting. It was however great to be so close to Termini and there are a few restaurants nearby.

“Go away from there”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2007

The only positive point is the location near the termini. No AC, we were there in june, it was too hot and didn't able to breath after a small effort. We had to sleep with window open and all that streets sounds: tramway until 1h am, so many people outside, music, etc. Bring ear blocks and some pills to sleep. The door of the shower didn't close and there was a flood in the bathroom after the shower. So many moisture on the ceil and the walls. And you can smell it as you enter the room. The towels are good to dry the dishes only. The breakfast is horrible, unfresh bread and moisty crackers. The coffee is black and green...pouah. So deceiving...

“Wouldn't go back”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2006

This hotel is conveniently located near the Termini train station, but the surrounding neighborhood felt unsafe during the evening hours. The location to the Ancient Ruins was fairly decent though and once you get out of the immediate hotel area it was ok. The staff wasn't very friendly and getting to the rooms was a chore as there were several steps you had to lug you suitcases up. The room was basic and the bathroom was pretty limited. There was a tub and showerhead, but no shower curtain. The tub was very, very small and the towels were pretty skimpy. They do have internet access in the lobby, but it isn't free. Breakfast was pretty meager (bread and coffee). There was a major ant problem in our room and we were bitten by bugs of some nature during the night. Probably wouldn't go back there if given a choice.

“If you dont like 'roughing' it a little, then stay away”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2006

Was in Rome for 6 days, stayed at this hotel due to price and location. Right next to the train station and the drop off points for the Airport Shuttle bus used by ryanair.

This place is good if you are going to be out all day and night only to return ready to fall asleep within 10 minutes of getting in your room.

The Hotel:
The hotel is definitely not one i would like to spend conscious time in, just sleep. The rooms arent very nice, and the hotel has no amenities apart from a tv in the room and a pc for people to use (price ok). Breakfast is terrible, but it does the job. If breakfast is important to you, then this is def a no-no.

Worst part is having to listen to Celine Dion Album every morning of the week. AAAAaaarrrrrgggghhhhh!!!!

The Area:
I dont know what it is but the couple of blocks this hotel is situated in, just seem vey shady. Lots of like furtive people hanging around can make you feel uneasy. Was very apprehensive about walking along some of these streets.

Overall:
For the price and great proximity to the centre, the sites, and the station this hotel is excellent. Just plan ahead, so you a) dont have to have breakfast, and b) have stuff to do that keeps you away from the hotel and the area!

  • Liked — Its location
  • Disliked — Breakfast, Celine Dion, Dodgy area, Bad lift facilities
  • Tips/Secrets — if you dont mind roughing it a little, this hoptel is good value compared to others

First thing is it in a bad part of town, didnt feel comfortable leaving at night. Room had no AC. Mold on the bathroom walls, very noisy most of the night, very busy streets with the train station and bus stops so close. Terrible breakfast. only plus we found is that it was walking distance to ancient Rome sites. would no stay there again!
