“Good Value”

We got a taxi from the airport which dropped us at the bottom of a hill and poitned us in the general direction. The hotel WAS hard to find but once you have mastered it its not a bad walk. Wouldnt recommend to anyone too unfit though. (we didnt find the shortcut till the last day)
Most of the staff were polite and we liked our room. It had a small amount of damp on the ceiling but you could see they had tried to clean it off. There was a tv in the room but we never turned it on.
We went down for breakfast most morning's and you do have to get there at a good time as the week we stayed there were lots of greedy people stuffing themselves but we always found something. The lady who worked in the breakfast hall wasnt the friendliest person but we didnt care much.
To get free wi-fi just go down to reception and they will give you a password.
I'd recommend this hotel to anyone who doesnt mind not being right in the centre of Rome. Mind you, we could see the vatican from our bedroom window and it was only a 10 min walk. Everything is in walking distance, I wouldnt bother with buses at all and we only used the metro when we really had to as everything seemed in walking distance.

it was at the end of august and was the first time that i ve been in Rome while expecting to have a wonderful holiday . Because of this hotel , i couldnt sleep well and absolutaley recommend you to find another one.
First it was so hot and the aircondition was not working , second the tv was one of the oldest one that an hotel can have in this decade and also the remote control was broken . Then there was only mineral water ,which i dont like , in the mini bar nothing more ,and the furnitures were terrible.
On the other side the bathroom was ok but could be better , and the hotel is nearer to Vatican City .
This hotel doesn't deserve 3 stars maybe 2 ...

“a value for money hotel close to Vatican City & San Pietro Station”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

We booked a taxi through the Hotel from the Airport which cost us 50euros. I'm glad we did as this Hotel is based in a residential area which I believe a regular taxi would have trouble finding. Its location is about a 5 minute walk from San Pietro Station and a 10-15 minute walk from Vatican City. There are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby for your convenience but all located down a hill so be prepared for the walk back up again!.
We are a family of 4 so we booked 2 rooms as the bigger rooms were unavailable to us. Bit disappointed they had not put the 2 rooms together but at least they were on the same floor! THe rooms were quite small but both were clean, with a fridge, tv, own bathroom and a comfortable bed. Reception were very helpful in helping us to get around, knowing bus routes as well as train routes and were quite happy to write instructions on a map for us. Breakfast was a basic continental with a little extra of bacon and scrambled eggs. Overall we felt this hotel was great value for money and a great location and would definately choose to stay here again on our return.

“The hotel was not all that great....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 June 2011

This hotel deserves 2.5 stars but no more. I'm going to start with the most important thing: location which is the reason why I chose to stay at this hotel. On the map the hotel appears to be very close to the Vatican, but it’s actually on top of a whiny hill walking down the road takes a lot longer then it appears and you could take the stairs but that also long and difficult to traverse if you have luggage. So the location is actually more inconvenient then it appears. A/C was a problem it didn't work!!! The receptionist told me it was only on during the hours of 1pm to 6pm? What a terrible excuse. Other problem we had was the plumbing, since there was no shower in enclosure the water did not drain and so the water leaked out of the bathroom. Reported that and they fixed it the next day, but the A/C they said they would turn it on additional hours of 10pm to 4am? WTH its June and its hot but these people won't fix the A/C!!! I would not come back to this hotel and I would NOT recommend any one to stay here.

Dear Client,

thank you for writing us.
I would like to apologize for the troubles you had during your stay.
About our location, as confirmed also from our clients on their reviews,
we are about 15 minutes walking from the Vatican as Google Maps reports in its official Map.
The air conditioning is working properly in the hotel, but we both have to consider that
sometimes can happen technical problems.Despite of this, we fixed completely the air conditioing during your stay.

I hope to welcome you again in our hotel and I send my

Best Regards
Stefano Ricci

Dear Client,

in your review you make a clear accuse at the staff of the Hotel Alessandrino
saing that is dishonest.
Well, before to write such a serious declaration, we would appreciate you to complain
directly at our management bringing the prove of it.We find it very strange that you didn’t do it.
I have to say again that I agree with the reviews that can help us to improve our services.
But I don’t agree with the reviews that are very far from reality.

Kind Regards
Stefano Ricci
