“All in all, thumbs up!”

Nice and compact hotel with a very polished serving staff both at the reception and the restraunt bar. The lift is slightly old but not creaky! The variety in food served leaves a lot to be desired, but there are good options like an Italian and Chinese joint bang opposite the road, so this can be managed. Also a huge supermarket is situated just 2 mins walk away for any misc. needs. Locationwise, it is fantastic, so easily accessible by both busses and trams to all parts of Rome. So, ideal location for sightseeing and long staying travellers. All in all, thumbs up!

“I would recommend this hotel for a long weekend in Rome.”

Even though it is not right in the centre, it is relly easy to get everywhere with public transport. The bus stop is just round the corner and the Metro is just 10 min walk away. I would recommend to have the day pass (4€) which gives you unlimited travel all day.
The area is decent (not rough like around Termini station) and fairly quiet at night (for Rome, anyway). There is stil quite a lot of traffic noise but as there is air conditioning in the room, you can just shut the window.
Most of the staff are very pleasant and helpful, the room (we had a twin) is big enough and clean. Breakfast is nothing to shout about but quite adequate.
Overall my mum and I had a fantastic time in Rome!

“Central location, but small and dirty rooms with a few racist staff.”

So i checked in okay, no problems. Room was a single and very small. The telephone was very dirty and the sheets on my bed does not appear to have been changed. After 2 nights stay, the electricity went out for about 5 mins. Everywhere else on the street seemed to have electricity. My TV remote wasnt working and breakfast is very basic, no eggs etc just croissants and dried tough bread. The bathroom had a bit of mildrew in the shower. The worst thing that happen to me the evening before i left. I came in to the hotel and a gentleman practically ran me down to ask me which room i was going to. I ignored him, as I've been staying in hotels for many years and have never encountered anything like this before. However, he followed me to the lift and i said to him if you want to know which room i'm in follow me to my room and you'll see. He then blocked the lift door and i had to take the stairs. Now i'm a black woman and do believe this is his reason for behaving in this manner. So I would urge black people who want to go to this hotel to think twice because some of the staff there are racist. Not all i must stress. Another thing i found unusual about this hotel is that they close their doors at about 11pm, so if you want to go out clubbing you have to knock the main doors to gain entry to the hotel. I have to say I've travelled all over the world staying in hotels and this is one of the most bizzarre, unusual and racist hotels I've stayed in.

“Just fine”

This was the first Hotel that my sister and i stayed at in Rome. We were only there for about three days all up (so not a very long time). The best thing about the place was the staff, they were nice and helpfull which is what you need the most when you are travelling. The rooms were fine and the bathrooms were about average. The lift like many of the Hotels in Europe was small, so you either have to be patient or go up and down the stairs, i didnt mind but i guess some people would.
The location wasn't the best but it meant that it was closer to the parts of Rome that other tourists wouldn't see, and we went to a really nice restaurant that we definitely wouldn't have gone to otherwise.
Oh and the breakfast was pretty good too.

I didn't book the hotel myself because it was part of a tour (i did rate it average because i thought that would be fair), but thats not to say that i wouldn't go back. And the only reason i wouldnt recommend it to a friend is because it wasn't fantastic.

“An ideal base for exploring”

My husband and I stayed at this hotel a few years ago now (although it feels like only yesterday). Our first observation was that it was a bit further from the metro station than advertised, it was a good 10 minute walk at a fairly brisk pace, fine for us as a young (ish) fit & healthy couple but for anyone with kids or the elderly it might be a bit of an issue. That said its really easy to find the metro station from the hotel (or vice versa) and the metro is a fantastically convenient way to get around the city.
The room wasnt exactly spacious but very comfy and clean and nice decorated.
We only ever ate breakfast in the hotel so we cant really comment on food but breakfast was perfectly adequate.
Our only (small) complaint was that the room was very warm and the only way to cool it down was to open the window which let in a lot of road noise, other than that we had a great stay and would recommend the Santa Constanza to anyone looking for a good value place to stay in the most beautiful city in the world.
(On a personal note we got engaged during our stay in Rome, it was the perfect setting for such a romantic break)
