“Reasonable hotel- lousy location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2006

Eur Suite is a clean, functional hotel (nothing special) with friendly, helpful staff. The rooms are large and airy and the shower was fantastic! Sadly, the location of the hotel is in an area which is rather intimidating and as it is a long journey into Rome (Bus then Metro), we could not stay out after dark as we didn't want to be walking around the area at night with children. If you do feel brave however, the bus stop is quite close to the hotel (assuming you get off at the right one- it's easy to get lost)and busses serve the area till at least midnight.
The hotel restaurant is overpriced as the standard of food is not great, which is a shame as it would be useful to have a good restaurant when you are trapped in your hotel after dark. Since there is no pool or leisure facilites and the bar is expensive it is difficult to keep children entertained on your early return to the hotel. Breakfast is ok, but not what we are used to from UK hotels- there's only so much cheese and ham a family can eat!All in all, ok if you don't mind early nights but don't go there with kids!

“Too far outside the city center”

Modern suite hotel, but it is just too far outside the main part of the city. In Rome, location is everything because the metro never goes where you want to go and the buses are always crowded and stop too often. If you don't mind spending most of your time traveling to and from the hotel, this is a nice hotel. Clean, modern, nice staff, decent breakfast. Huge rooms by European standards and very comfortable. But I would never stay here again simply because it is just too far out. Rome is a walking city - stay in the city center (I love to stay somewhere in the area of the Piazza Navonna and the Trevi) because from there, you can walk anywhere. If you don't like to walk, prepare to take buses or pay for taxis, and you can't hail a cab in Rome; you have to find a taxi stand and they're not on every street corner!

“well off the beaten track”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 March 2006

We went to Rome for a weekend break so our time was very limited to take in all of the sights. Unfortunately due to the location of the hotel we spent most of our time on public transport making the epic journey back and forward to hotel. One city centre taxi driver even refused to take us out there because of the distance (11kms)! We could have forgiven this if the hotel itself had been a little special but although the communal areas, reception etc. were nice, the room wasn't great. It was quite spacious but taking into account we had to share it with half the local ant population, that didn't really compensate... the fittings were a bit dodgy, for example the towel rail fell off when we put a towel on it, the shelves were on a slope so if you put something on them, it fell off, and there were big ugly black damp patches of mould on the bathroom walls and ceiling. As for the location, it wasn't near anything except for a gypsy encampment, loads of graffiti and, quite possibly, Greece. Definitely not Rome. We can laugh about it now but not enough to ever want to go back.

“great hotel grotty location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2005

I stayed here for two nights with my daughter. The hotel is nice, much more spacious accomodation than most within the same budget. The real drawback is the location, both a bus and a train to get to it. It is a grim area, and for two females at night I found it to be really unsettling. I would really only stay here if I was travelling with my husband. The taxis from the train station are patchy, and often you cannot get one after 9pm, so you have to take the bus. If you do not know where to get off, you are on your own, as the bus drivers proffesed not to know where it was, and if you get off at the wrong place, it is a scary area to wander round at night.

“My unexpected stay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 April 2005

I found myself at the Eur Suite Hotel quite by accident when the original hotel I had booked had a problem and had to move me elsewhere. The hotel itself was fine. It was clean and comfortable. The down-side is that it is a ten minute bus ride (776) away from Laurentina metro station, which is right at the end of Linea B of the metro system. It is in a desolate location surrounded by grotty blocks of flats and graffiti. There are no local shops or restaurants.
