“Nice Hotel and Good Location.... but not a 4 star hotel.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

We spent the weekend here and the staff were very friendly and helpful. A short walk to the top of the Spanish Steps and the Metro.

The room was nice and clean - small - and the bathroom was very clean. The noise from the street was so loud we had to keep the windows closed - altho it was November, the room was very warm (and the heating/air in the room did not work). Our room was on the first floor and with the window open the smell of cigarette smoke was annoying -- the people from the restaurant next to the hotel would smoke under our window. There is no carpeting on the floors in the hall so we heard every footstep, voices, and doors opening and closing.

The breakfast was fine, altho we sat in other parlor as it was so crowded - I had to carry not only my food, but my hot coffee thru the lobby to the other breakfast parlor -- then had to get up and go back and get silverware (each table only had a tablecloth and a napkin), then had to get up and get salt/pepper. It should not be difficult to set a table with not only eating utensils but condiments!

The bar area was in fact the breakfast room, the man at the desk in the evening was rude -- he was not happy with my request to use the internet -- just a very unhappy fellow!

Again, not a four star hotel -- yes, a nice three star hotel.

Room Tip: Beware of the rooms facing the street -- especially those rooms on the first floor as the smoke from...

“Amazing location, friendly staff, reasonable price!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

The hotel is located in great place, couple of minutes from Spanish stairs, villa Borghese, Hard Rock Cafe on Via Vittorio Veneto and many nice restaurants around the hotel.
The staff was friendly, supportive and very informative. The room was nice and clean. The breakfast great. Next time we will definitely stay in this hotel.

Don't take blue line bus for sightseeing, although the stop next to the hotel. They are usually late, just skip the bus stops and you will waste your time and money. There are red busses and many other sightseeing companies.

Room Tip: I don't know, but the staff will do their best.

“Great welcoming hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

Ludovisi Palace wins hands down when it comes to Customer Service. We enjoyed our interactions with the hotel staff who were very warm and accommodating. The rooms may be small, but that is true of most European hotels so it was not a surprise. It was well appointed and clean. It was centrally located in a posh and safe neighborhood. An advantage for us was that it had very accessible parking close to the building. We walked everywhere - from the Spanish Steps to the Colosseum and Vatican City. There are also many restaurants close by. We got an especially good price on the room, so all was well!

“Good location, but not 4 stars”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

I recently stayed here for a few days during my honeymoon. When I was walked to the room, I could have sneezed across it. I asked the guy if there were bigger rooms (that did not face the street) and he said they were all the same size and there were no more "non smoking rooms". Thankfully, there was not too much street noise so it wasn't too bad. Considering we were just using the hotel as a "home base", given we were going to be touring the city most of our time, the quality of the accommodations wasn't a big deal in the end....just the price.

The daily breakfast was nice. They have just about everything you could want. The main attraction to a stay here would be the location. Once we got oriented to the area, we walked everywhere. This was good because the cabs were few and far between around the hotel. The front desk staff was helpful, and their recommendations for places near by to eat were right on.

If you don't mind the price for the location, and you aren't going to be in the room a lot, go for it. Otherwise I would look for more economical options. Oh yeah, unless you have a death wish, don't use their "private car service". We used them going to the airport and was never more scared during my 2 weeks in European traffic.

“Great location - run down hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

This was a sad experience.

Be very specific when you book a room at this hotel - we found, that they put us ( Family of 3) up in a very small room and qouted incorrect prices for an eventual upgrade.

It was definately NOT worth 4 stars - and the corresponding price - not even for Rome.

Better value to be found in hotels like La Residenza nearby.

Only comfort was that we found one staff in reception was very kind and helpful.

I have travelled for leisure and business in Italy for more than 15 years - but this was sadly the wórst experience.
