“Not what I booked”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

I booked and paid 3 months in advance the 1 bedroom apartment we were a party of 2 ladies 2 teenagers (14) boy and girl. We liked the look of it on the net we wanted a kitchen so we could cook and make a cuppa. On arrival at 9.30pm we were told could not have the apartment person in it is still there was sick had seen a doctor was told he could not b moved, we said if he is that sick he should b in a hospital. We were put into 2 separate rooms 2 single beds in each no cooking facilities not even a kettle. We then had to pay for every meal we had. When standing outside the next morning we saw a husband and wife 2 small children go through the entry to the apartment we booked it is the separate gated area next to the hotel if you looking at it on the site. I recieved no phone call regarding the change had to stay otherwise would have blown my money. Will never stay at that hotel again and in regards to agoda will not use them again either.

Room Tip: Dont bother with this one go somewhere else.

“First Class”

The title says it all. A small family owned hotel and it showed. We were very well looked after by all staff during our Roman visit, breakfast was a varied substanial continental buffet. The rooms were clean and well appointed in an older style which was very elegant in truth. This hotel is always busy and its not difficult to see why.

“Very Good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

Very good hotel with a reasonable price for Rome. Its very close to the
Coliseum and walking distance to almost all atractions. We felt very safe around the hotel during the day or night.
Breakfast is good and the owner makes tasty capuccinos. He is a really nice guy and gave us really good advices and directions.
Our room was spacious and confortable. It was on the second floor and had a window to the front street, but it wasn't noisy.
Yes, the towels were thins, but not a problem at all.

If you are looking for a nice plane with reasonable price you've found it!

Warning: Via dei Serpenti is a Traffic Controled Zone (they call it ZTL) so with you drive to the hotel you will get a ticket!
It's best to get there by taxi or walk from the subway, it's not that far.

“Friendly, family run and very convenient to sights”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

We stayed here at the suggestion of Elizabeth Minchilli and her Eat Rome app. (Get it if you're going -- best $3 you'll spend.)

We were very happy with the hotel and the location. We dropped off our bags after a long flight from LA, cleaned up and within 10 minutes we were looking at the Spanish Steps. (Albeit from behind a wall of other tourists.) Oh and before we left the hotel, we leaned out the window to take in the street scene and were blown away to see the Collosseum right there to our left. It's nearly impossible to get away form tourists in Rome, but the Apollo is in a neighborhood, so at least you have a blend of locals and tourists in the streets.

We found it very convenient to public transportation for sights that were too far to walk to (Vatican, etc.)

Would stay again in a heartbeat. Also a pretty reasonable price for a large city. I overslept the breakfast the whole time we were there, but my partner was very happy with it. Again, you're in Rome. Have a little something at the hotel and then go out and eat your way across the city.

“Clean & friendly family operated hotel in awesome historical center of Roma”

Third time staying at this quaint family owned and operated hotel - and just as enjoyable a stay as previous visits! Located in centro storico Roma within view of the mighty Roman coloseum. There are plenty of little restaurants, coffee shops, and tiny grocery stores in the vicinity. A tasty buffet breakfast is served each morning in the rooftop terrace dining room - including custom made delicious cappucini! :) Many, many thanks to the delightful family and staff of Hotel Apollo. We appreciate all your kind care & thoughtfulness. We look forward to our next trip to Rome and again staying at your hotel!
