“Charming basic hotel in great location”

This is a hotel I have recommended for family and friends in Rome. It's a small hotel, spotlessly clean with a short walk to Trevi in one direction and the Forum in the opposite. If you want glamour this is the worng hotel for you but if you want a clean small safe hotel in the centre of Rome then this is the hotel for you.

“Good for location and decent rooms.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012 via mobile

Very good for location, walking distance to Termini station. Room small but clean. Comfortable and reasonably good for price (around 75 euro for one night in single room). Breakfast was awful.

“Wonderful staff, excellent location”

I picked this hotel based on a recommendation by Rick Steves. It is near the Termini train station (10 - 15 minute walk). Via Firenze is a quiet street with little traffic. It is located near the Republica Metro station (closest) along with the previously mentioned Termini train/Metro station. I stayed in a single room so it was small (twin bed) but enough room for one person. The room was clean and bright. The staff was very helpful and a wonderful source of information. The continental breakfast (ham, cheese, cereal, pastries, yogurt, etc) was filling. They will make expresso for you if you ask. The building itself is spotless. Marble floors, bright and cheery.

My single room was a good value. I had looked into staying in a hostel and the Aberdeen was actually cheaper since the hostels usually charge a solo traveler the double price for a private room.

“Clean, comfortable, central with a good continental breakfast.”

We found the staff very helpful, welcoming and the rooms were clean and a sound size with a bathroom, for Italian standards, being spacious. Continental breakfast was good with a good variety of food. The breakfast staff will make you a cappuccino if you ask.

“Excellent hotel, friendly helpful staff”

We were in Rome for two weeks on vacation in January. We picked the Hotel Aberdeen as our first lodging, largely because it was so conveniently located--a short walk from the main Train station and close to many landmarks--but it was such a delight to stay there we never left (until we left Rome altogether). Rooms were simple but very clean and well appointed, and all the staff were very personable and eager to please, from Mariano, Costello and Alberto at the front desk to those who prepared the breakfast and cleaned the rooms. They were helpful in getting us reservations, answering questions and resolving problems, and flexible when they could be on things like breakfast hours. We very much appreciated their willingness to talk with us and share our enthusiasm for sights and experiences they must hear from hundreds of visitors to Rome over the years, as well as their generosity with cappuccino (eapecially vital during the first jet-lagged days).
