“Good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

Good location and closed to terminal. The croissant at breakfast is amazing! There are different types of restaurants nearby, pizza, café, pasta, even a Chinese restaurant (we tried that and it is very Chinese from the place to the food!). Everything else is so so. The bathroom is big enough but the shower is small and the water drains too slow.

Room Tip: Must try the croissant at breakfast!

“Fast WiFi and close to metro and grocery store (SMA). This is on Via Amadeo and very close to Termini and is the best hotel I ha”

As per the title, I highly recommend this hotel as your first choice. Very easy to get to from Termink and close to the metro. Great food choices nearby whether you like true Italian cuisine or cheaper food (kabab) this is the spot. This area is safe, from my many experiences in this area of Rome. Enjoy your travels in this city!

Here's my 100% honest and unbiased opinion: Rome hotels are all expensive to begin with so we knew we weren't getting the Ritz right from the start. I've read some negative reviews about the service but ours was ok. The room however was something different. The WiFi was completely ineffective, the bed was very uncomfortable, the AC stopped working randomly, area was VERY noisy, warm water ceases after 8am, internet costs 2 euro per device, rates were raised on us upon checkout by 20 euro without warning, clerk told us 60 euro for cab to the airport but when we hailed one they said 40 was fine, and breakfast requires a drill bit to open the rolls. The good parts include location which was close to Termini, commercial businesses close by, decent service, and security by keycard access. This hotel would be fine for the boys out on the town but not so much for couples and the more seasoned citizens. The Termini area is a little shady but nothing to get paranoid about. Women may get some verbal jabs but nothing physical. In my opinion, Rome is such a great and exciting city that it's one place you should allow yourself to spend a few more dollars and get a better hotel.

“Good Value place in the Station Area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2011

We turned up late in the evening and this place was easy to find. Rooms are very suitable with A/C - very important in Rome in the summer. Close to Termini station, but about 20 mins walk from the main sights in town. But if you want yuou can take the metro from Termini....

Breakfast was good - plenty of spread, but have had better in Italy really.

Staff were always very friendly - especially the man who says he was from Manchester who had a very dry wit I think...

The one negative I can say is that the cleaning staff start with their rounds at circa 7am. They have walkie talkies, and throw clean linen at the bedroom doors very early. We were there 5 nights, and all except the public holiday in Italy, were we woken by flying laundry and loud conversation in the corridor outside our room!

“Upgraded to an apartment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2011

After spending 7 days of a Med cruise, we came to the Hotel Contilia very tired. We were early arriving and were informed our room we had booked was not available but if we wanted to stay in an apartment they could do that for us at same cost. My husband and I took a look, the elavator was very old and could only hold 3 people. It was a two bedroom apartment, with a living and kitchen! In one room there was a double bed and a single and the other room was a beautiful qeen bed. It was a little hard, but we were so tired it did not matter. There was a balcony looking out into the courtyard so we did not hear any noise from the street. There was a breakfast the next morning but we got up late a had to catch our cab back to the airport. The hotel was close to the Termini station. Would stay again. Hope to go back to Rome sometime.
