Gives you the experience of living in an old style apartment in the heart of Rome. It is right at Piazza Cavour which is currently being refurbished and will look spectacular when done. We could walk almost every where from here and that was the biggest plus point. The bus terminus is just outside and you can buy tickets at the vending machine. There are plenty of affordable trattorias and gelatrias on all sides so you can try a new place every day! Don't expect it to be like your standard hotel as there is no electric kettle with coffee/tea or complimentary water.

We went to Rome for 4 nights to see all the sights, after a lot of investigation we decided on this hotel. Mainly because it was cheap, had a ensuite, was close to the sights and transport, you could smoke in the room and it had good reviews. When we arrived as stated in other reviews the guy at reception gave us a map and showed us loads on it. The map we were given was Invaluable and went everywhere with us. The room was adequate, tv only had news in English and some music. Room was roomy and the bathroom was enough. The safe in the room was brilliant. The worst things about the room was that the bed was brick hard. In saying that we were too tired every night from walking all over Rome that we didn’t really notice and fell asleep anyways. Breakfast was a basic croissant, tea, juice and melba toast. Not filling but enough to get you started. There is a supermarket directly across from the hotel, which also makes it easier to find the hotel. We would buy juice and stuff from the shop and keep it in the room. The shop closes at 8pm tho. Hotel is a stone throw away from Castle St Angelo and the Vatican which is great if you wish to go early as you don’t have far to travel. There’s a restaurant called San Marco’s just along from the hotel which is very nice, it is also worth travelling to Barberini station for a meal in the Hard Rock Café. The Hotel was very safe and in a good area. On the whole it was a great choice, however, the hard bed has put me off a little In staying again. I would definitely recommend this area of Rome as it looks the safest we seen.

Marta Guest house was situated in an area by the Tiber and a few streets from the Vatican. So a great location, within 5-10 minutes from the Spanish Steps and a good base for walking around the city. My single room was a little noisy with builders outside at 730am but it didn't bother me too much and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Another bonus was the supermarket across the road and a great cafe further down who do excellent cappuccino & pastry in the morning for 1.80euro. I would recommend staying here but in a double room as the single is a little bit small, good place if on a budget.

Me and my friend enjoyed our staying in Marta Guest House in June, 2009. The location is great, just a walking distence from the Vatican, St Angelo and Piazza Navona. The room with a double bed was clean with a private bath, nice and simple. The staff is very friendly and really helpful, especially, Ovidio.
