i stayed here for 7 nights with my boyfriend and we really liked this hotel. ill go through everything starting with getting there.
to get to the aris garden hotel is a bit of a trip, we got a terravision coach transfer from ciampino airport which cost €8 return and took about 30 - 40 minutes. this took us to termini station, where we took the metro as far as eur fermi (this took another 20 minutes) and then a public bus (number 709) as far as via aristofane(about 30 minutes). this might be too long a journey for anyone staying only a short time but we were there for the week so it was fine. so to get in and out of rome centre from the hotel took us about an hour each way every day, which isnt actually quite bad considering how hard it is to find a good quality hotel in rome. the bus stop is located just a few feet from the hotel
the hotel is situated in a nice safe little residential area, theres a restaurant Mirko's right around the corner that was nice and good value, and a few little boutiques and gelateria's about a 1-2 minute walk around the corner.
breakfast was simple but not bad, lots of different croissants and pastries jams etc, cereal, juices, fruit, rolls and ham and cheese, some scrambled egg and bacon in a hot plate over the other side of the breakfast room which was strange.
the hotel pool was great, never packed full of people, we always had a lot of space around the pool and often the pool to ourselves, however for one hour every day the pool is used by a local children's club, who mostly stayed in the shallow children's section. we never used the gym and the indoor pool seemed to be out of use but it looked good when passing it.
all areas of the hotel were nicely furnished and clean, the rooms were lovely and were cleaned every day, only cnn in english on the tv so bring books if your plan on being home early at night (which we did as we had heard lots of stories of muggings on public transport at night)
staff were ok, some much friendlier than others, theres was one guy who worked at the bar outside and he was so friendly and lovely wish we had gotten his name. others kinda eyed you funny when you asked for travel advice etc. we also on our departure day were charged for a dinner in the restaurant that we didnt have, (after about 20 minutes of reasoning this was dropped) and charged €10 for internet that was advertised as €5 per day (we only used it once) and €4 for the mini bar which we also didnt use, which we actually paid without realising as we only looked at our receipt when we left as we were in a hurry having stayed so long trying to sort the dinner mistake.. iv heard stories of staff everywhere trying to stiff you so check all bills and receipts wherever you go in rome. it could be a simple communicational problem but we still ended up paying for stuff we hadnt even used.
overall we liked this hotel, the pool was great, the outdoor bar at the pool was good and served delicious lasagne, ravioli etc for reasonable prices, the rooms were nice and clean, the area was nice, we would stay here again if we went to rome
