“Have potential.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2011

We were in this hotel for 4 nights. If you are in Rome as a tourist we would not recomend this htell. Its a bit far outside the city. But if you get this cheep it will not be any trouble. We took the bus and then metro. It is very expensive wi-fi 11 Euro for 24 hours. But you can get this free on the coffieshop nextdoor. The indoor pool we didnt find, and the outdoor pool haddnt been used for a while.

The breakfast was not good the first day. we cam an houer before it was suposed to closed and there was nothing left. But the other days it was pretty good.

“really liked this hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2010

i stayed here for 7 nights with my boyfriend and we really liked this hotel. ill go through everything starting with getting there.

to get to the aris garden hotel is a bit of a trip, we got a terravision coach transfer from ciampino airport which cost €8 return and took about 30 - 40 minutes. this took us to termini station, where we took the metro as far as eur fermi (this took another 20 minutes) and then a public bus (number 709) as far as via aristofane(about 30 minutes). this might be too long a journey for anyone staying only a short time but we were there for the week so it was fine. so to get in and out of rome centre from the hotel took us about an hour each way every day, which isnt actually quite bad considering how hard it is to find a good quality hotel in rome. the bus stop is located just a few feet from the hotel

the hotel is situated in a nice safe little residential area, theres a restaurant Mirko's right around the corner that was nice and good value, and a few little boutiques and gelateria's about a 1-2 minute walk around the corner.

breakfast was simple but not bad, lots of different croissants and pastries jams etc, cereal, juices, fruit, rolls and ham and cheese, some scrambled egg and bacon in a hot plate over the other side of the breakfast room which was strange.

the hotel pool was great, never packed full of people, we always had a lot of space around the pool and often the pool to ourselves, however for one hour every day the pool is used by a local children's club, who mostly stayed in the shallow children's section. we never used the gym and the indoor pool seemed to be out of use but it looked good when passing it.

all areas of the hotel were nicely furnished and clean, the rooms were lovely and were cleaned every day, only cnn in english on the tv so bring books if your plan on being home early at night (which we did as we had heard lots of stories of muggings on public transport at night)

staff were ok, some much friendlier than others, theres was one guy who worked at the bar outside and he was so friendly and lovely wish we had gotten his name. others kinda eyed you funny when you asked for travel advice etc. we also on our departure day were charged for a dinner in the restaurant that we didnt have, (after about 20 minutes of reasoning this was dropped) and charged €10 for internet that was advertised as €5 per day (we only used it once) and €4 for the mini bar which we also didnt use, which we actually paid without realising as we only looked at our receipt when we left as we were in a hurry having stayed so long trying to sort the dinner mistake.. iv heard stories of staff everywhere trying to stiff you so check all bills and receipts wherever you go in rome. it could be a simple communicational problem but we still ended up paying for stuff we hadnt even used.

overall we liked this hotel, the pool was great, the outdoor bar at the pool was good and served delicious lasagne, ravioli etc for reasonable prices, the rooms were nice and clean, the area was nice, we would stay here again if we went to rome

“Ok for an overnight, not sure re extended stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2009

We stayed here for one night prior to spending the day seeing Rome and then embarking on a cruise around the eastern Med and Greek Islands.

Taxi driver wasnt too sure on hotel location as it is situated deep within a residential area. Once we got to the hotel the rooms were ok, clean and comfortable. To our surprise the bar had shut very early and getting a drink was a tad difficult.

Breakfast in the morning was fine and reasonably varied.

Hotel rate was about £60 per room. However not sure if the hotel is a good location for an extended stay as there seemed to be very little around it in terms of facilities, shops, restaurants etc.

Only a 30 min or so drive into the centre of Rome.

Dear Shaun L,
thanks for reporting your experience at our Hotel Aris Garden. We are glad to read that you were content about the room and our buffet breakfast, we are sorry about the bar and the location which you did not enjoy. Our Hotel is placed in a green and quite area of Rome, away from city rumours and traffic but still our guests have the chance to reach the city centre, if they wish, very easily using pubblic transportations to be caught near the Hotel.
We hope there shall be the chance for us to serve you again .
Best Regards

“Excellent trip. Friendly, helpful staff. Nice traditional Italian hotel.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2009

The hotel had good facilities, level of cleanliness was very good. Staff were very friendly & helpful. The decor was traditional if not alittle dated and perhaps needed some TLC in places, but that didnot detract from the overall service. The best way to get to this hotel is via taxi from the airport as it's nearer the airport than Rome centre (approx 10 miles). Be prepared to use local transport to commute to the centre of Rome. The local buses were frequent and the stops were around the corner from the hotel so within easy walking distance. The bus drops you at the "Termini" where you then need to jump on Metro Line B which speeds you into the centre. The commute took approx 30-40 mins. Transport around Rome is very easy, Day Tickets & 3-Day Tickets can be bought(4 to11 Euros), enabling you to jump on and off buses, trams or metro. There's limited local nightlife being "out-of-town", but there was an excellent family run taverna round the corner. They were very welcoming, and by the end of the week we felt like part of the family! I got an excellent deal on this hotel, making it fantastic value for money. I probably paid a third of the cost for a hotel in the centre of Rome. If you don't mind a bit of commuting I would recommend this hotel as a good base for sightseeing in Rome. It also has a gym & pool where you can relax afterwards.

“Not a good hotel for families, or anyone who needs any kinds of amenities like a/c and sinks that drain.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2009

We were there with a tour, and were unable to get a room without clogged drains in both the bathroom sink and the shower. The shower had mold all over it. They advertised wireless internet free, but their internet was out both of the days we were there. We had three kids and elderly parents in our family.
