excuse the lack of punctuation im typing one handed, babe in arms.the hotel is with jumping distance of one of romes most visited attractions, and hello its a fountain with running water,so its going to be noisy. It isvisited everyday by thousands of visitors.the rooms are tiny,i stayed in the one shown on the proffesional photos of the hotel and to be honest you could not swing a cat,who cares when you have the trevi fountain all to yourself in the morning and late late at night.the top of the hotel where you can have a glass of wine after a hard day sight seeing is fab, taking in the amazing facia of the fountain.its in a nice part of rome, within a lovely evening walk to the spanish steps and flower market.its no exactly the hilton but i dont mind a small room i dont go to italy to sit in my room,as long as theres a clean bed(even if a bit uncomfy)you take the ruff with smooth.

Room Tip: ask for a room that overlooks the fountain, take some earplugs if you dont like the sound of running...

“Dream by the Trevi Fountain”

We booked one night at the Fontana on October 19th before embarking on a mediterreanean cruise with Celebrity Equinox. Yes, this is an expensive property
( very unique with only 24 rooms ). We were given a room facing the Trevi fountain, what a wonderful experience, watching the crowds mill around the fountain area. It was a beautiful day as we walked to the Pantheon and Roman Forum. Many shops and restaurants in the area as well. As other reviewers have stated, the rooms are small but clean and the ambience of the hotel is excellent ( it was neat to see the antique furnishings and pictures in alcoves and corners as you walk up the stairs ). Breakfast the next morning was included and had a good selection. We had a wonderful view of the fountain from our table by the window. This was a great experience for two western Canadians who love the historical sights of the world.

“Fantastic location - dreadful room”

This hotel is situated in the most perfect position overlooking Trevi fountain. It’s easy walking distance to all the monuments and Vatican City. The view of the fountain from the breakfast room is excellent.

We were given a room at the back which should have been quiet but the lift is so old and noisy it was impossible to sleep. I have never seen a double room so small or basic, I guess it was about 2m x 2.5m and the bed was pushed right up to the wall to allow enough room to walk past the other side. Yes it used to be a monastery but it's now a hotel and guests expect more than a basic bed and wardrobe. There wasn’t even a glass to rinse our teeth after brushing. It's a shame we didn't get one of the nice rooms shown on the website.

The bathroom - I'll try not to be rude but it's very difficult and here goes: you can sit on the toilet, brush your teeth in the washbasin, soak your feet in the bidet and wash your hair in the shower all at the same time. Get the picture?

Breakfast was lovely and there was plenty on Sunday and Tuesday but Monday was a problem when there was no juice, cold meat, bread rolls or pastries and we had to ask. Don't be afraid to speak out, you've paid for breakfast so ask for it. The breakfast lady on Sunday and Monday was not friendly and some would say she was rude but I know how tourists can be tiresome and will leave you to decide for yourself. The young lady on Tuesday was really nice and attentive.

Staff on reception were nice apart from one who seemed a bit stuffy but I won’t make any comments because you never know whether someone is just having a bad day. The porter is the nicest, genuine person I have ever met on holiday. He is full of information and has a smile every time you see him.

All in all it’s ok for the money because of the location but you can get better accommodation a lot cheaper if you’re not bothered about the view.

A word of warning about the taxis - be on your guard! We were taken for a ride (sorry for the pun) and were charged 28 euros for a 1.5km ride (the clock said 26). We only had 2 x 20 euro notes and the driver drove off at great speed with our change. Walk everywhere, you will see more and walk off the pizza, pasta and vino calories!

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the lift but rooms at the front will also be noisy, although they have the...

“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

Small rooms for the price but great location. Located in front of the famous Trevi fountain, a short walk to nearly evrything important; the colosseum, the roman forum, the constantine arch, piazza nevada and the famous streets for shopping, there is also a bus stop with buses going to Vatican City for 1 euro

“What a View!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

This hotel is the simplest, least fancy hotel I've ever stayed in that warrants an excellent review. The hotel is an old monastery that overlooks the Trevi Fountain. The opportunity to sleep, wake up and eat breakfast overlooking the fountain is the attraction. The rooms are more than basic - they are monastic, of course. But pretty in their simplicity. I loved being there in my peaceful room as the tourists start to gather in the morning or as they eat gelato and socialize in the late evening. This hotel warrants only a one-night stay, however. Get the view and the memories one night and then get comfortable after that!

Room Tip: Don't stay here unless you have a fountain view room.
