“Neighborhood feel, but not in the heart of downtown”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 June 2011

No complaints-- value for money this hotel was totally reasonable. It was clean, had a/c, good sized rooms (for IT) modern bathrooms, decent breakfast option, was in a nice/safe neighborhood, and was close to the metro.
That said, it's not in the heart of Rome-- don't expect a view or to stroll to the Spanish Steps. But with distance comes value. While I wouldn't call it a 'budget' hotel (it's nicer than that), it's definitely budget friendlier than the downtown hotels. Rome's metro and bus system is easy to use and reliable, so it's really not THAT far from the action.

“Thumbs Down!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 May 2011

I find it hard to believe those who rate this a quality hotel. The general consensus was that the staff was not very accommodating or friendly. They did not try to do anything to make your stay pleasant. Asked for but could not get an extra pillow 2 nights in a row. When asked something, it was like, "don't bother me". The room was small and the beds not comfortable. Did not even have amenities like tissues in the room. Asked for wake-up call for 8:30 AM; got call at 8:05. It was far from the main tourist attractions and taxis were not readily available as in the main areas of the city. No bar or restaurant. Metro was at least quarter of a mile away. Where most hotels provide free internet service you need to pay 5 Euros for 1 hour, when the signal is working. If you want to be where there are attractions, don't stay there. If you want a quiet area, just a place to sleep, don't need any help with anything, and no amenities, then this is for you.

“Nice quiet Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2010

We booked with hotel through thomas cook. It is a lovely quiet hotel about 30 minute walk outside Rome. The hotel is 3 storey with lots of tall rooms. Unfortunatly our room did not have a bath as it said on the site. Free safe in the room with a nice sized fridge. The bed was nice and comfy and a good size. Shower was lovely and hot. The staff were helpful but didn't seem that friendly which I assumed because they spoke little to no english. Continental breakfast was included. Fresh bread, yogarts and cereal were available. The only downside (in my opinion) to the hotel is that there was only local restaurants around. Some local seemed rude and wouldn't serve us 5 minutes before opening times. However, some places we went to were fantastic.
The Policimini (not sure of spelling) metro station is about 6/7 minute walk from the hotel. The roads near the hotel are busy , as they are in rome itself. The Roma Pass (25 euros) will get you on the metro free. Stops including the collesium, spanish steps and Vatican City.

“Perfect Hotel to explore the city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2010

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights.

Our room was on the first floor. The room itself was big enough. Only the bathroom was very small. Two persons did not fit in.
The hairdryer in the bathroom did not deserve to be called hairdryer.

The breakfast buffet offered something for everyone. Cereals, cake, fruits, bread, eggs, sausages.

If we had questions, the hotel stuff was always very helpful.

After check-out we could leave our luggage in the hotel. They putted a number on the luggage and gave us a paper with this number. This was a good feeling that the luggage would be safe.

Although there was this small bathroom I would book this hotel again.

“NEVER AGAIN”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2010

Pros:
1) Air conditioning worked
2) Safe and quiet location

Cons:
1) No minibar in room- was told to use the hotel bar, which is never open
2) Power failures- 5 of them, left us in darkness, and sweltering heat since aircon stopped working
3) Television did not work at all- asked for it to be fixed, and of course nothing happened
4) Room smelled horrible- as soon as we entered our room, it reeked, the entire 7 days we were in it
5) Reception desk was ALWAYS busy, whether with business or staff just chatting amongst themselves- asking any directions or questions was a hassle unless you dont mind waiting for the staff to finish their chats.
6) One of the staff did not even look like he wanted to be at front desk- he was very cold, unhelpful, and had a real attitude. We would ask him for an internet code, and he would just continue clicking away on his computer without any acknowledgement of us apart from throwing a screwed up piece of paper with our code on it at us.
7) Had to ask for toilet paper at reception, rather than it being supplied by the room cleaners
8) Cleaners are very noisy in the morning and WILL wake you
9) Very noisy as we were next to the elevator and could hear the people on floor above us
10) Small insects in our room that looked like fleas- dont know how they got in since we never opened our window
11) Internet access is only available from one room in the hotel

Either they are handing out hotel stars like candy or this is the new standard, but in my experience this is NOT a 4 star hotel. Fortunately this did not ruin our trip to Rome but we will not be staying here again unless it was free.
