“Great price, staff, location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

For the price, this is a "very good" hotel. Staff are great. Location is solid- just a 5min walk from Ostiense for a train to the airport and Piramide metro station, from which you can take the metro all over town. Quiet location kind of out in the suburbs of a nice area of Rome. Many restaurants along Viale della Cestia Piramide to choose from, including a Mexican place with a great apertivo/happy hour. Great enoteca close to the intersection as you walk to Circo Massimo. My wireless did not work from my 4th floor room and the rooms, while spatious, are in need of a makeover.

“short autumn break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

Easily accessible from stazione Ostiense. Taxi cost 5 euros for approx 5 minute journey. Very quiet and pretty location. Room good size; lovely patio/balcony looking onto beautiful courtyard. Good quality bed linen and towels. Excellent en suite; easy to use powerful shower with virtually intantly hot water. Towels replaced daily if required. Useful electronic safe and well stocked mini bar. Continental breakfast buffet available 7am-10am and serving probably the best freshly made coffee I've ever tasted! Location about a 10 min walk from Metro Circo Massimo and the journey to Termini costs 1 euro, takes about 5 mins or so and ticket valid on Metro system for 75 mins.
Would use this hotel again on a return visit to Rome.

“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Domus Aventina. While a bit out of the way, the hotel is near the metro which makes it easy to navigate Rome. Location also meant the hotel was very quiet. The staff were all helpful and spoke excellent english. We arrived early before our room was ready and they invited us to have breakfast while we waited. Cappuccino's were great!

“Nice, quiet hotel in Rome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

We stayed at the Domus Aventina for 6 nights in September. The room was quiet, clean with well functionning air conditionning. We had a room with a balcony overlooking a small courtyard where flowers, orange and olive trees were growing. Staff were pleasant, professional and helpful. It is worth booking a taxi through the hotel to get picked up at the airport and return. A number of good little restaurants are within walking distance to the hotel.

“Good if you pay for and/or get the better rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

I stayed 3 nights in June on a business trip. The location was excellent for me because I could walk to my place of work but as well because of its proximity to restaurants in the evening. The hotel is on a quiet street and staff are helpful. I had booked a single room at a great price through Trip Advisor but the room I was given initially was small, dank and dark with a single window giving onto the plumbing chute. I was able to negotiate an upgrade to a better room for about 20 euros additional per day. The room I was given had a lovely view over the garden to the church next door and was bright and quiet. I thought I was in a different hotel! My only critique is that the room had wall to wall carpet which is never a good idea in hotels particularly in hot climates: they always smell and are a repository for dirt, bugs and the rest despite the best efforts of vacuum cleaners. Being allergic to pollens, dust, mites, etc. I had to take my antihistamines before going to bed. My other critique is the breakfast: right up there with airline breakfasts! Awful synthetic juice and lousy coffee ... in Italy!!!! The gentleman taking care of breakfast was himself embarrassed. So what's the bottom line? Good hotel overall with a few drawbacks that one can live with if you get a good price. Easier to live with if you are on vacation (and can have plenty of wine to drink before going to bed) than on business (and can only take antihistamines because you have to work the next day).

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the garden and the church. Ask if they have rooms without wall to wall carpet...
