We have stayed at the San Carlo numerous times. They continue to upgrade the rooms and the hotel in general. In November, they moved the breakfast room from the ground floor to the roof top garden area. They have also expanded the breakfast options to include freshly baked croissants and apple croissants, as well as fresh fruit, lunch meat and cheese. The terrace is enclosed in plastic flaps and there are portable heaters which makes it very comfortable. It is a pleasant way to start the day.

The staff is always the same - no turnover - which I think is a good thing. They are all pleasant and accommodating. The rooms are very clean, as are the common areas. There is free Internet access - a big plus. The location of this hotel is excellent - 2 blocks from the Spanish steps where there is a Metro stop and a line of taxis. If you are reasonably fit, you can walk to many of the major sightseeing areas. There are numerous very good restauarants nearby - plus via Condotti - one of the most exclusive shopping streets in the world - is one block away.

Considering everything this hotel has to offer, I think it is an incredible bargain and I would recommend it highly.

This was my 6th time staying at Hotel San Carlo . My visit to Rome was for 3 weeks from the middle of November up to Dec 7 . It is a very nice and clean hotel with an excellent location , right in the middle of many sights . The management and staff were very helpful and most delightful . The breakfast was more than ample and served on the roof terrace which was a new location and very pleasant .
Definitely the place to stay while in Rome !

For anyone familiar or new to Rome, you know the hotels in the Eternal City can be the most expensive on your trip to Italy. We found this small hotel several years ago and have stayed there a number of times, now. It is perfectly located a block from Via del Corso and all the great places to walk within the city. There are lots of restaruants and cafe/bars in the area and they are not overrun by tourists, so you can enjoy some real Roman ambiance. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the bathrooms typical for older Roman hotels. The breakfast is typical, too, but a pleasant way to start the day. The staff is wonderful - helpful in directions, finding restaurants, and arranging transportation to the airport at ungodly hours. For location, this is a great value.

This was our first trip to Rome and turned to Tripadvisor for help. We were delighted with this hotel. It is in a great location, near the Spanish Steps but far enough away that is is quiet and not congested. The room felt a little small at first but it was quite functional once we got settled. It was very clean and fresh feeling with a nice bathroom. The staff is wonderful, they couldn't be nicer. We especially appreciated Victoria, the manager who we called upon for all sorts of recommendations. Let her order the taxi for you to get back to the airport, you will be sure of the price that way. Breakfast was a lovely affair, it is upstairs on an outdoor terrace. It was a great way to start the day. There are many lovely shops, restaurants, and a supermarket within easy walking distance. Great to arrive back at the hotel after a long day and have such a choice within a few blocks. You will not be disappointed in this little gem of a hotel.
