“Solid Choice in Rome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2006

This hotel is located on a small street and is directly across from MACRO, which is the contemporary art museum in Rome. The rooms are clean. The staff, (particularly Mustafa) is very, very friendly and eager to help. Breakfast is good (Italian croissants, cappucinos, jams, butter, nutela and melba toast) and you can take a tray up to your room for breakfast in bed.

There are several good restaurants in the area, all walking distance. ATM's and internet spot nearby. There is a new massage spa on the same street where I had an excellent hour-long treatment for $35.

The Kent Hotel is an ideal choice if you want to keep your costs down and don't mind (we prefer it) not being in the thick of things. I highly recommend this hotel.

“Value, Location and nice staff!”

My lady and I stayed here for the 1st half of our Italy vacation while we were in Rome. Well located in the Porta Pia area just off Via Nomentana, two bus stops away from Termini and 5 mins from Villa Borghese (and the Gallery). Our room was facing the street however Via Reggio Emilia is not often travelled (except by the occassional Vespa) and despite being close to the elevator there wasn't a lot of noise.

Make sure that if you do take a cab from Termini they run the meter: it should only cost about 6-10Euro. We took a cab and, well, it was 37. Obviously if your bags aren't too heavy, take a bus: 1 Euro/ticket.

The room was small, like most European hotels, but everything was there, the bed was comfortable, Mustafa (the owner/concierge/desk clerk) was very attentive: told us exactly what bus lines took us where, what would be open, and recommended some nearby restaurants (though part of the fun is discovering your own).

Breakfast was pretty good, fresh coffee, good table service: typically a croissant, sliced bread, coffee, and juice - there was Panetonne cake since it was Christmas time. That stuff is pretty sweet though.

Great experience, price was right, would definitely recommend!

“Convenient and economical”

The Hotel Kent was an ideal place to stay while in Rome. We (my boyfriend and I) travelled to Rome for 7 days, and found the Hotel to be a perfect place to situate ourselves. Located in the Borghese Gardens area, it was close to the Porta Pia bus stop and had very easy access to the sights. The restaurants around the area were friendly and less expensive than right in the touristy areas around the Trevi Fountain and Colloseum. The staff was also helpful and we were able to buy train tickets to return to the Airport right at the hotel.

“Good choice in Rome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2005

I agree with all the previous reviews, Hotel Kent is a great place to stay when in Rome. It's good value for money as accommadation in Rome is very expensive and clean with helpful staff. The area around the hotel takes on a lovely atmosphere in the bars and restaurants at night time too. Basically you get to eat where the Romans eat and not get ripped off in the tourist traps of central Rome.

We were forced to stay at Hotel Kent as all other accommadation in Rome was fully booked that weekend. We initially were worried that it was not central enough for the sites but it is a short walk to Porta Pia square where you can catch a bus anywhere. The big bonus for us was that we could leave the mayhem of tourists in downtown Rome and mix with the Romans in the evening. Everyone in central Rome is a tourist so Hotel Kent is a great escape from that.

“Lovely hotel, good value and great staff.”

I stayed at the Kent with my husband and 13 year old daughter from 6th to 13th July. Although not in town centre we were within walking distance and just round the corner was Porta Pia where we could catch a bus to anywhere in town. The hotel is small but extremely nice and very clean and modern with a/c. Rooms were compact with very comfortable beds and on suite bathrooms with shower and bidet. The continental breakfast was served in a bright airy room and was very pleasant. We enjoyed our stay at the Kent it was great value for money and if you don't mind being off the beaten track a little (which as it turned out we were grateful for as the city centre is always busy and noisy) you couldn't do better than the Kent. The absolute best thing about the Kent is the staff they could not have been nicer or more helpful (especially all the desk guys who answered all our questions and gave excellent directions and advice.)
