“If You Can Find It”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2005

We stayed here for 3 nights. The rooms were very large and generally clean. The decor wasn't especially new but not too bad. Most of the rooms had a balcony but nothing special (most views were of neighboring apartments). I believe the TV was available if you paid extra. We stayed with a group and some rooms had air conditioning but our did not. It wasn't too hot at night but during the day it would be. There is a pool on the property with a refreshment stand there. It was a very quiet and relaxed place and the service was very good. They spoke English well and were happy to accomodate our requests. The breakfasts were typical Italian (buns, cereal, yogurt, coffee and juice).
It was very difficult to find and it took our driver about 45 minutes with the help of our guide (who lives in Rome) and GPS. It is about a 20min. drive to central Rome and is in a not so nice area.
As a tourist, I wouldn't stay here again because of the location.

“You get what you pay for!!”

We were pleasantly surprised!! We had already booked this hotel before we read the previous trip advisor reviews. So we were not expecting the hotel to be up to much. But, the rooms were tidy and were cleaned with fresh towels everyday. The staff went out of their way to be helpful. The breakfast was continental and adequate.

Unfortunately, the downside of this hotel was the location and the links with public transport. Be prepared for a lot of walking and the steep hill outside the hotel.

All this aside, this is a cheap hotel and you get what you pay for!!

“Decent budget hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 March 2005

A good budget hotel if you don't mind using public transport.

Good: low price, nice rooms, quiet location with a nice view

Bad: in the middle of nowhere, often crowded with school and tourist groups, decent bus service crawls into town at rush hour

“Not that bad”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2004

We stayed for a week in Hotel Blanc et Noir. We travelled to Rome by car and we searched 2,5 hours to find the hotel!! It is really hard to find and not quite what you expect to see. We drove along the hotel twice and the third time we realised the hotel was behind a big fence. When we saw the horrible entrance and thougth of the shocking revieuws on this site, we were really scared that we've booked the worst hotel ever. But behind the fence it was not that bad. Our room was clean (there were certainly no bugs in the bed!!) and the swimmingpool was nice. The breakfast was not so nice, the bread was only fresh on Monday and the cheese was very sweaty. Please take this tip: if you drink the coffee (which I would not suggest) fill it for 1/2 with milk. You might get sick if you drink it black..
Anyway, we think the most important thing is that the rooms are clean and what can you expect in such a cheap hotel ?

“Ideal for a stay in Rome”

Instead of what was written before. I stayed in the Hotel from 4-11 aug 2004.
Personel friendly. More than enough food at breakfast. I had breakfast every day at 9.30, so very late.Clean rooms. Free welcomdrink at arrival. Perfect busline 31 25 minutes to Rome or Metro.Tabachi 3 minutes walking from the hotel where you can buy your tickets or 3- or 7 days bus/metroticket. Very kind busdrivers, the showed always the way eand were helpfull.Very kind waiter in the bar (closed at 23.00)Information is of course available. Buy a tourist guide before you go to Rome and don't complaine about time and distance. Travelling is always a unknown experience, so our Brittish friends stay at home!
